I have to visit Sweden regularly. It is, alas, one of the few places that I can never wait to get home from. Had this opportunity cropped up in Denmark then that'd be a different matter

Bottle of Smirnoff Black from Systembolaget is about £25 - it's £19 a bottle in Tesco.

A bottle of Smirnoff Black in Cafe Opera will cost you about 200 nicker.

Systembolaget is your friend.

Cafe Opera is between Ostermalm and Gamla Stan - it's a nightclubby type place (sorta)

The world isn't measured in Vodka. It's measured in wives, who measure the world in Vodka.

One pronounces Systembolaget pretty much as it's written - System, Bolaget (Bol ar get). Well this one pronounces it that way, anyhow.

I can buy this bottle of Vodka for £200 or the same one for £25...I wonder which course of action will make me richer? :-)

The Rolling Stones. Apparently it's 50 years today that they played there first ever gig. Now, I know that it's each to their own and all of that, but I'm yet to hear one single song by them that's made me even think 'oh, that was quite good'. :conf:

Strangely enough, I'm generally in this camp too. I can think of a couple, but as a percentage of the volume of stuff they've churned out, it's fairly small.

Angie, Paint it Black, Ruby Tuesday - then I get a bit stuck.

Always thought they were kind of dull, no doubting their talents in songwriting or as musicians , and i think a general steady quality has kept them going, but aside from Start Me Up i cant think of a RS song that i dont get bored of halfway through, maybe Paint It Black too i can sit through all of just about.

Sympathy for the Devil.
Paint it Black.

That's about it for me; can take them or leave them tbh. 50 years is one hell of an achievement though.

All over now and Not fade away were early favourites for me, but for the rythmn and liveliness, the lyrics were crap. Big hype when they arrived and all the, Brian Jones, Marriane Faithful etc all in a psychadelic haze of hippymania. Frenzy, controversy and crowd mania kept them in the news more than any classy music. Even I look at them now and think, "give it up lads. enough's enough". It was actually enough twenty five years ago.

It's that old "golden glow of recollection" for most folks I reckon.

I guess we might get somewhere near an album's worth at this rate. :-)

Sympathy for the Devil
Brown Sugar
Paint it Black

All pre '80's. All good.

Don't really like the Stones but they sure as hell have influenced plenty of band I DO like.
