Michael Vaughan knows. He understands.

I think Owen's philosophy from now on should rightly be 'What Would Michael Vaughan Do?'

Indeed.

I live my life by that rule.

Well that implies 442 and suggests he doesnt think his previous attempts at signing strikers have been successful.Doesnt even mention Eaves which will fill the young lad with confidence. Infact man management wise thats a bit crap as he's basically saying what we have isnt good enough.Got to wonder if he signing sordell was some kind of football version of the americans buying London Bridge.

To be fair I agree with what he's saying. 3 front line strikers isn't really enough. Eaves hasn't started a game of professional football ever, at any level. I think saying he'd be ready to lead our forward line in the championship is wildly optimistic.

I'm glad Coyle is not in this case being wildly optimistic.

True enough but I'd like to see Eaves/Sordell/Riley/Vela given their head.Coyle has already signed three strikers he doesnt seem to rate. But hey maybe Sturridge will come back lol. If he can pick up someone with an eye for goal and a full set of kidneys I'll be ecstatic

Am I right in thinking Eaves hasnt played a game of league football whilst at bolton? Didnt we loan a lad out last year to Southend, Sampson? Isnt he therefore more experienced?

So, the question is - Do we want a sicknote who will play less than 10 matches a season whilst completely obliterating the wage bill??

Er, no thanks.

No - we don't want that.

We want Michael Owen. You, me, Michael Vaughan, everybody.

We all want Michael Owen.

A Kevin Phillips type would have been absolutely ideal for this season, alongside the young guns of Sordell, N'Gog and Eaves, and the old warhorse Davies.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I would love to see Owen at the Reebok. It ain't going to happen, but I'd love it. Can't help it. I am ignoring logic, and wage structures, and age, and ability, and injuries. But I'd love it. It'd be great.

Why are we only thinking about a new striker now? Given the mystery as to why Sordell didn't get a chance when the Davies / N'gog "strike force" (I use the term loosely) was inneffective and Klasnic wasn't up to 90 minutes or couldn't be arsed (whichever you prefer), the need for someone to put the ball in the net has been obvious for a year.Pre season frindlies seem to show the same trend - lots of chances created but strikers (including Eaves) completely incapable of scoring - even from a few yards out.

Because friendlies dont count, if you miss an open goal in a friendly then it doesnt count, it never happened...thats why they're not too worried about it because friendlies dont count unless you win a cup.

On the subject of new strikers, Click Lancashire also rumours about Bolton going for Roque Santa Cruz: http://www.clicklancashire.com/sport/bo ... -move.html ..again seems to be little fact to the rumour, but given he wants to stay in the North West, is he worth a go?

Re Michael Owen, interestingly looking at oddschecker, on SkyBet the odds of Owen going to Bolton have suddenly dropped from around 33-1 to 10-1... http://www.oddschecker.com/football/foo ... fer-window

Owen said we could have scored 6 or 7 in both games, so when you factor in the friendly factor that means we will definitely score 6 or 7 at will in games where we're actually trying, erego thats why he's not too worried about it.
