David Burke, former player

Post by htfc_m » Mon Jul 23, 2012 2:42 pm

Hi guys,
I am trying to get in contact with the former Bolton and Huddersfield Town left back David Burke. I am wondering if anyone on here knows what he is up to these days, or any way I could contact the man himself?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid that isn't the person I'm looking for.

Move along.

"Where's David Burke?" - a question I often used to ask when he was playing.
"People are crazy and times are strange
I’m locked in tight, I’m out of range
I used to care, but things have changed"

I thought Burke did very well for us in that promotion season.

My old man was a solicitor before retiring, and he and his place of work used to handle his legal affairs (nothing major of course, house moves etc). I met him a few times and he was always very nice and polite, and went above and beyond several times getting merch signed for me and introductions to players after games.

As an eight year old at the time this was quite frankly awesome, and he took the time to personally introduce me to the likes of Andy Walker, David Lee, Alan Thompson, Alan Stubbs etc. I was made up.

I hope the game treated him well and left him with some fond memories. He doesn't seem to be affiliated with a club in any capacity these days.

I'd try calling The Bolton News and asking for your request to be passed on to Gordon Sharrock. As far as I'm aware he's still in touch with a handful of players from the Neal/Rioch era, and should be able to put you in touch. Failing that I reckon Tony Kelly might be able to help you out.

Haha Puskas, yeah that was a common complaint I used to hear the grown-ups talking about on the paddock. Still, he was where he ought be more than a certain other full back from recent history, namely Nicky Hunt; though on the other side of the pitch admittedly. On the whole he was fairly solid though.

BWFC have an ex-players association, if you follow this link, at the bottom of the article is the name and address of the treasurer and a contact number. He may be able to help.
