Oh look.

It's Friday afternoon.

People are ignoring my emails, and all we have to look forward to is Monday morning 2 and a half days away.

I'm so happy I could shit.

Spent a lovely afternoon at the Beehive cheering on the Iron Man competitors. Sun was shining, beer was cold and the bravery and fortitude of the runners, who were by this stage a mile or two into the marathon, was a sight to behold.

I could have put in the angry thread at how little coverage I could find of it on BBC or MEN websites, but feck it. Twas a great few hours.

Monday morning.

I love Monday mornings. The end of a pointless weekend of misery and back into the joys of work.

Hooray.

Is anyone answering your e-mails yet? Just to cheer you up even more?

No. But I'm passed the point of caring.

If they don't like what I've done, that's their problem (until they tell me to change it at the last minute, when it becomes my problem.)

Still, it's not all bad - a beautiful day, sun shining, glorious temperature, and I'm in the office. What could be better?

I guess it could be improved by being in a meeting for 7 hours in a windowless room.

That would be wonderful. I may try to arrange one.

Often, on days like this, when I'm sat with friends in a beer garden, enjoying chatting and a good pint, I'll think "I really wish I was in the office right now". Sometimes I can recreate the feeling by poking myself in the eye with a stick. But it's not quite as good...

Surely the ultimate would be a 7 hour meeting in a windowless, air conditionless room, with Michael Vaughan?

I did this last Sunday, except it was a broom handle. It hurts. This, combined with my sore mouth from a tooth extraction, a sore elbow from catching it on a bathroom cabinet handle (sharp and metallic) and almost breaking my finger after slamming it into a patio door frame made for a Sunday of expletives. Frankly, I was relieved to get into the office yesterday so I could sit, safely and in peace.

Oh - I wish I could be there with you, Worthy, instead of having to drive my bike on this horrid sunny day over the cliff tops past Labrador Bay and over the Shaldon Bridge to meet some people for lunch and then drive back again... you lucky devil!

Yes .... I pray for you ! *halo*

Had a leisurely stroll around Bolton centre after dutiful visits to the market and garden centre. Ate fish and chips from the Olympus chippy, sat in the sunshine, then came home and had a large ice-cold San Miguel in the garden. Nearly time for a walk around the park with the dog. I'm trying hard not to miss work.

I may have to go and get myself a hat, so I can doff it to you for that.

It's been one of my favourites for nigh on fifty years - all 11 minutes.

It seemed an appropriate signature to adopt on returning from a May afternoon in Stoke.

But it is nearly fifty years old. I'd never really given that much thought, before. Flippin' 'eck. I can only claim to have first heard it fairly recently. Well, the 1980s. When I was drowning in a sea of 5-Star on the radio, and suffering severe doubts as to whether my collection of NWOBHM LPs were really the absolute pinnacle of music...
