Re: Pre-season 2012
Far too much analysis going into results here, that have absolutely no bearing on how we will perform when football (cos this isn't football, its just a load of blokes trying not to get injured or tired) actually starts on 18th August!
IMHO of course.
EDIT: Coyle out....

Agreed, but it's still nice to score a few...BWFC_Insane wrote:Far too much analysis going into results here, that have absolutely no bearing on how we will perform when football (cos this isn't football, its just a load of blokes trying not to get injured or tired) actually starts on 18th August!

Re: Pre-season 2012
Yep the result on Saturday was largely academical.
Re: Pre-season 2012
Results pre-season don't matter although it would be nice for the team to start to play good flowing football and score a pan full of goals but the important thing is the fitness and to avoid a injury like CYL had last pre-season.
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

@OfficialBWFC: BWFC: Bogdan, Mears, Ream, Knight, Ricketts, Chung-Yong, Andrews, M Davies, Petrov, Eagles, K Davies
@OfficialBWFC: BWFC Subs: Lonergan, Alonso, Wylde, Pratley, Riley, Vela, Cisse, O'Halloran, Eaves, Blakeman
Mills apparently isn't the squad for some reason

I know it's 'results that don't matter' but come on we've played what, three sacks of shit now and scored like two goals? I've not seen any of the performances but will be making my first attendance of the season against Morecambe so we'll see what happens then.
That Jim Bentley bloke will probably bag about 6.

Re: Pre-season 2012
I'm in both camps. The results don't matter which is factually correct and I don't want us to pick up injuries. I note that our goal last night involved 1) 60 yard punt 2) 5 yard knock-down 3) 30 yard shot. It's certainly not about going in like Ron Harris in pre-season and coming out with a shit load of unnecessary injuries, but there's rather more to the game than going in hard. You don't have to play like a bag o shite either, just because "the result doesn't matter". I could excuse someone jumping over what they perceived to be a risky tackle, even if we conceded.Gail Platz wrote:I know it's 'results that don't matter' but come on we've played what, three sacks of shit now and scored like two goals? Re: Pre-season 2012
The fact is Middlesborough knocked 7 against them and we scored one from an unlikely distance which won't happen that often

But did happen last night, strangely enough.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

well - on one measure - surely one from long distance = several from short distance?

Re: Pre-season 2012
I really can't understand the "doesn't matter" camp.
All results matter to a greater or lesser degree. In pre-season games they matter as they give us a benchmark with which to measure future team performances and help to build confidence for the battle to come (including the supporters).
In the league - I won't call it by the c word (yes I am still p*ssed off about the calamitous exit from the Premiership) the "doesn't matter" camp were much in evidence for the first half dozen or so games last season. But it does matter, see, and will this coming season if my worst fears are borne out by continuing Coyle family ineptitude. The squad, correctly motivated and trained were good enough to stay up last year.
Last season I and a few others called for Coyle's head by October. I'm sure there are still apologists who will continue to say that he should continue to be given the benefit of doubt. How long is it going to take this season before the truth dawns that he is not the answer, no matter what the question is.

Beat Burnley, opening game and all will be forgotten and forgiven.

Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?
Re: Pre-season 2012
Because the first games of pre-season don't matter. It's the time team coming together after a long time apart and getting used to playing as a team together. The season starts on the 18th if we haven't won at least one of the first three then I can understand the calls for Coyle's head but until then let's get everything into a little perspective. Last season is done now and it's time to move on.bedwetter2 wrote:I really can't understand the "doesn't matter" camp.

it were like the wins were flukes amongst the dogmatic batshit.
