Re: Tranmere thread
Oh, quite. Sorry AT, wasn't arguing as much as exploring Coyle's possible thinking. It's almost like he's made as many changes as possible, and oh look we're back to a flat midfield four in which nobody can tackle.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:It was the fact that he thinks it is a midfield combination that should be played at any time. By playing it, it seems to me that he thinks it is a combination that is worth looking at, with a view to using it, even if not all the time. With the exception of Lee, it is a combination that has failed miserably many a time last season. It worries me.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Plenty o'changes there, AT; I'd say more than half those starters were second-choice – until Saturday, when something looking perilously close to first-choice got bummed.
The default 4-4-2, too, you note.
Maybe he's one of the four fire-irons for the midfield enforcer...TKIZ! wrote:The Oracle's at the game tonight

Re: Tranmere thread
People know I like a bit of moaning about Coyles selections as much as the next man. But what could he do tonight, given Andrews, is apparently nursing a minor injury?

Compensate by not cutting a midfielder? Stop picking Kevin Davies, about whom it's impossible to learn any more?BWFC_Insane wrote:People know I like a bit of moaning about Coyles selections as much as the next man. But what could he do tonight, given Andrews, is apparently nursing a minor injury?

Agree re Kevin Davies, but it's pre season and he's balancing out giving people game time.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Compensate by not cutting a midfielder? Re: Tranmere thread
heh! And I'm getting more sceptical... I know it's a balance pre-season - had he started Afobe and Sordell up front I'd understand it – but hasn't KD played every game of a (completely coincidentally) goal-free pre-season? And can he honestly think that a central midfield duo of Mavies and Pratley is even approaching suitable?BWFC_Insane wrote:Agree re Kevin Davies, but it's pre season and he's balancing out giving people game time. BWFC twitter descriptions:
Other subs: Mills for Knight HT, Vela for Pratley (63), Wylde for Eagles (77), O'Halloran for Chungy (79) - good spread of subs and leave-ons, for stamina, 'cos I know that some are worried about fitness...
He came on at half-time for Sordell, who will in no way be despondent. Well done Benny boy!Afobe smashes home after a terrible defensive mistake! (50) 1-0
GOAL! Afobe at the double! This time he powers home a header from Eagles' free-kick! (74) 2-0
GOAL! HAT-TRICK FOR AFOBE! He skips around a marker on the edge of the area before drilling into the bottom corner! (77) 3-0

Not while Coyle's manager.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

*Good job you have these gooners to bail you out eh?
He was by far your brightest player against pompey too. Some of our U8 girls are dying for a game too. Shall we send them up north?!
