According to thebish (et all) he looked a bit of a fattie at Portsmouth. Now obviously that is entirely Coyle's fault, because he's evidently also a feeder aswell as all the other stuff. So maybe its best for all if he leaves, otherwise Coyle is just going to keep shoving Big Macs down his neck until he's big enough to post pictures of?

Best player we have with the ball at feet.
Unfortunately, until Coyle realises that lumping it up to KD doesn't work then there might not be room for him.

Best player we have running with the ball but that is the only thing he does well and there were plenty games last season when he didnt manage to run with the ball at all.His all round game isnt good enough to play in a centre pair.Wandering Willy wrote:Best player we have with the ball at feet.

Would fit with Ream being force-fed Nando's chicken last year !!Lord Kangana wrote:According to thebish (et all) he looked a bit of a fattie at Portsmouth. Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Welsh midfielder Cardiff sold to Celtic a bit back.officer_dibble wrote:Who is joe ledley?!
Indeed, except that a recent Team GB programme accidentally called Joe Allen 'English', to uproar - including in The Sun, alongside a piece in which they mentioned Allen's midfield team-mate 'Nathan' Cleverley...officer_dibble wrote:Its all GB these days DSB...less of the nationalism

On Mavies, again, much sense talked, but this rings sharply true:
Mavies is at his best in a five-man midfield, which will only ever be Coyle's fallback at best. Thing is, we don't actually *need* to sell, and I come back to the old who-replaces-him question. Remember to tailor your answers to a world in which Jay Rodriguez sells for £7m.Wandering Willy wrote:Best player we have with the ball at feet. 1) Gets ball to feet.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: again, much sense talked, but this rings sharply true:Mavies is at his best in a five-man midfield, which will only ever be Coyle's fallback at best.Wandering Willy wrote:Best player we have with the ball at feet. 2) Runs with ball.
3) Seeks out cluster of 3-4 opposing players.
4) Runs directly at them.
5a) Comes out at the other side with the ball.
5b) Comes out at the other side without the ball, usually taking a good few seconds to realise that he'd lost it, too.
5b was the more regular outcome of the two. When it came off, it looked fantastic and the pundits would jizz themselves. When it didn't he looked foolish, and it seems only the fans noticed it... probably a good thing too considering Swansea are coming in for him. I praised the lad for having a crack at running at players when nobody else in the team was, but on the flip-side it left us woefully exposed at times; especially considering both he and Eagles rarely busted a gut to get back and regain the ball.

this. if Vela proves to be better its win-win. but Davies has always flattered to deceive so even if Vela doesn't immediately fill his boots we still wnt miss muchBWFC_Insane wrote:Andrews starts? We're likely to play 4-4-2? We're looking for another defensive midfield player (and were prepared to pay Sanchez a lot of money to come before his demands became ridiculous)? Holden may well come back and Coyle has already mentioned him as being suitable for the holding role he has identified.Puskas wrote:How does one measure how much he's worth to us?BWFC_Insane wrote:He might fit in very well at Swansea and I agree with you that we should make them pay a premium for him (if indeed we are to sell him, and given how tight Swansea are with money, thats no way certain yet) but he is in absolutely no way worth 5M to us. Anything above that value, given that some will go to Wolves, would be an absolute steal for us IMO.
On that basis, will Mark Davies even get in our team every game? I suspect not. And young Vela is meant to potentially be a better more all round player.
so 5M for a bit part championship player who doesn't fit into the system our manager is bound to play?

You were saying people should give Coyle credit for some of the squad looking "less fat". If that is the case then shouldn't he also get the blame for those members of the squad who look "unfit"?Lord Kangana wrote:According to thebish (et all) he looked a bit of a fattie at Portsmouth. I note you're yet to quote the latter query, let alone answer it. I've told you, Coyle is a feeder. Its got nowt to do with us demanding more off highly paid footballers who should be more professional like those athletes there. Or something, I forget the precise details of the rant.

Which is fine, but you can't have it both ways. You can't expect people to give Coyle credit for those players that have looked after themselves over the summer, if its all about individual responsibility.......Lord Kangana wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:You were saying people should give Coyle credit for some of the squad looking "less fat". What does Nixon have to say about it?

I think Mavis will be brilliant with Stuart Holden in the middle of the park. Between the two of them they would run a game. wouldn't sell unless we are desperate for the money.

Anyone have a idea what wages he's on? I imagine its a fair whack higher then the bit part role many think he plays.
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
can someone remind me what the projected return date of Stuey Holden is??? is it this season?
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
A cheapish option would be James Henry from Millwall. A year left on his current deal, 23 years old, and comfortable on the wing or in the middle. He'd probably cost a £1-2m.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Chrisfu wrote:Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Mavies is at his best in a five-man midfield, which will only ever be Coyle's fallback at best.I note you're yet to quote the latter query, let alone answer it. The lad that won Birmingham's player of the year last season too looked pretty nifty, but I think he's a good 3-4 years older, would cost more and doesn't play in the centre.
