I suspect few know that. Perhaps the bloke you work for might have the best idea, given the lack of info from Bolton about this....thebish wrote:can someone remind me what the projected return date of Stuey Holden is??? is it this season?

Davies is the type of player who stands out every year in the Championship and if he goes, we have nobody to provide that flair or skill. Do we have better players? Yeah, we do but do we have players more suited to the Championship? I'm not sure at all.
I'd keep him. He will shine next year.

Holden was muted for an October return I think.. But considering he's probably not set foot on grass since his last injury (I don't even think his gym work stretches to a treadmill), he's probably some way off from that!

Fair point - he did, after all, get a long-term deal.wanderers_on_tour wrote:Anyone have a idea what wages he's on? I imagine its a fair whack higher then the bit part role many think he plays.
Interesting, but he's got two years left, and is more of a winger (which we don't need) than a string-puller (which we do).Chrisfu wrote:A cheapish option would be James Henry from Millwall. A year left on his current deal, 23 years old, and comfortable on the wing or in the middle. He'd probably cost a £1-2m.
Chrisfu wrote:The lad that won Birmingham's player of the year last season too looked pretty nifty, but I think he's a good 3-4 years older, would cost more and doesn't play in the centre.

We could play (and Coyle has played) Eagles or CYL central in a 4-2-3-1 but I still worry that we'd be losing a(nother) central midfielder of talent (and leaving ourselves with only Andrews, Pratley and young Vela). I don't mind losing short-term solutions like NRC or ageing dinosaurs but Mavies is something different. Needs to be worth it for us. £5m to talk but I'd still want £6m and a decent replacement: money in the bank doesn't get you promoted like matchwinners on the park.
(And then we come to Coyle's somewhat questionable success at spending lump sums...)

Ah, maybe I could ask Laurel and Hardy next Tuesday evening

If Holden doesn't come back as the player he was then more reason to keep Mavis! He is the only one capable (doesn't always do it) of passing the around and running with it in the middle of the park. I can't see the likes of Andrews, Vela etc doing that.
How old is he now 24? A good solid season in the championship would be better for him and us!

Might I suggest if you're going to let them of with such an easy question that you phrase it like this..."When is Holden back you pair of useless morons?"Bruce Rioja wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:I suspect few know that. Or ruder, if you want to run the risk of one of them old Ladies from BWSA asking you outside....

I'd love us to make a loan move for frimpong. Hard tackler, good work rate and a lot of stamina. People are calling him the next michael essien & thats exactly the kind of player we need, someone who adds some grit to the midfield but can also move the ball around.

He was great for Wolves last year. It was mentioned about 100 pages ago that Wolves would get him again but now they have a new manager, it seems like that won't happen. If Arsenal are still interested in getting rid for a year, I'd love to see him play for us.Jez wrote:I'd love us to make a loan move for frimpong. Hard tackler, good work rate and a lot of stamina. Peter Wittingham wouldn't be a bad play maker, always been one of Cardiff's best players!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! A wide player who has flattered to deceive for years. There's a reason none of the bigger clubs have been in for him; inconsistency.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:Peter Wittingham wouldn't be a bad play maker, always been one of Cardiff's best players!

I thought we'd agreed that a playmaker is not what we're looking for. Essentially, we need to get back to basics, and basic #1 is don't concede. For that, we need a defensive midfielder, and a defensive midfielder Whittingham is not. He's a sub standard winger.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:Peter Wittingham wouldn't be a bad play maker, always been one of Cardiff's best players!

Did he borrow those trousers from Bruce's wardrobe?

Distinct lack of quality DMs that are available now and could do a job for us. The Oracle suggests that we have our eye on 4 but won't name names
Pfffft.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
