What on earth are you on about? We've needed a commanding midfield player all summer. Even Coyle has said so, and I pray to whatever deity is guiding our 'unmighty' leader to come to that conclusion. Hallelujah praise the Coyle. Its only taken him 12 months too long, but at least he's realised it.thebish wrote:yeah - never hard if you want to...BWFC_Insane wrote:Whether its his agent or himself who is the problem, either way, it's not hard to foresee problems down the line, given the evidence so far.
That's if he does actually sign.....
However, if in that time he has only been able to identify 1, suitable candidate (who lets be honest, nobody on here, had ever heard of, till Nixon wrote about him in June) in the whole world, then I think its genuinely right to be a bit worried. Especially when said candidate was meant to come over at the end of June but didn't and went on holiday instead, then was set for July, but didn't have a visa, then went on holiday for a second time without bothering to apply for a visa. Then was meant to be here at the end of July, and wasn't. Then missed the August deadline for him to be in the country, again, but came a few days after, only to demand (or his agents, who knows) double the agreed salary, whilst seemingly playing ourselves and West Ham off against each other. Who is still a free agent, and whose transfer to us has apparently been '100% off 3 times' already this summer. I think it does in any person who is in full possession of their sanity and faculties raise a few doubts as to a) whether we will indeed sign this bloke, or any suitable defensive midfield player and b) whether if we sign this bloke, eventually, his heart will be in it, or him/his advisors might start causing trouble like Tevez's/Mascherano's did for West Ham, trying to engineer moves, causing disruption etc.
I still believe without another defensive midfield player that we have more than enough to get out of this division, but the requirement for a tackler has not yet been fully met and it would be nice seeing how glaringly obvious it is, for us to have a few targets, just to make sure that we are covered. A loan would do till such time as we can see if Holden could once again fulfill the role.......
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
how on earth do you know we have only identified one target???

Well, I'm willing to be as unreasonable as anyone & I fear for what Cptn. Chaos has planned for us but 12 months ago he had Muamba, Reo-Coker and quite reasonably expected Holden back, so that's hardly fair.BWFC_Insane wrote:What on earth are you on about? Anyway, fair ? ... Coyle ?? ... As you were.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Yes, he had Muamba and NRC, though NRC was never a holding player and Coyle seemed to want Muamba to play a box to box role. So he didn't use either in that holding role. And added to that Muamba was always on the bench......bobo the clown wrote:Well, I'm willing to be as unreasonable as anyone & I fear for what Cptn. Nixon mentioned that the fans can help the Sanchez deal go through by Tweeting his account name! If you want a tough tackling, rugged, hard working international, get those fingers working for your club!!!

Is it like comic relief? Donate enough to see some third rate comic sing, My Way at the end?
Tweet the player enough and he'll sign?

Is 'cut your losses' a phrase lost on Coyle? Or is he, as I assume, going to dig his heels in so as to try and prove everyone wrong again? Or are we simply hanging on for for the full four mil?BWFC_Insane wrote:We turned it down though.....bristolwanderer wrote:Fulham, 3mil, Ngog..

Well if Fulham are bidding for NGog they must be desperate. And desperate clubs tend to be "fleeceable".Bruce Rioja wrote:Is 'cut your losses' a phrase lost on Coyle? So I don't mind us turning it down. Besides I think he would do an ok job at this level.

if we're gonna sell Ngog at this late stage - I'd want more than £3mill... I'm not as convinced as some seem to be that he is shoite.

Sell Ngog for 3mill and then use the money and find another 4mil from somewhere and put a 7million bid in for that Jordan Rhodes!

or find another 37million and we could have Hulk off Porto from under Chelsea's nose!Tals-biggest-fan wrote:Sell Ngog for 3mill and then use the money and find another 4mil from somewhere and put a 7million bid in for that Jordan Rhodes!

Jordan Rhodes is a realistic signing... The mirror has the dingles set to sign him for 6million....thebish wrote:or find another 37million and we could have Hulk off Porto from under Chelsea's nose!Tals-biggest-fan wrote:Sell Ngog for 3mill and then use the money and find another 4mil from somewhere and put a 7million bid in for that Jordan Rhodes!

Jordan fecking Rhodes will be a name nobody hears in 3 years time. Like David Nugent or that lad Blackburn signed whose name escapes me who was the next best thing from league one, who was good for 3 months then did nowt more......
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
Are we saying Martin Jol doesn't know a good player from a bad one?
If he's willing to pay for NGog, then theres some evidence he aint shit, just that we didn't get much out of him

Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
Jordan Rhodes has scored 20+ goals in his last 3 seasons plus a 40 goal in 45 games season last season, Nugent had the one good season back in 06... Rhodes is 22 and still has more to give as a player and will be a top class striker one day, we'd be stupid to let him go to Blackburn without trying to take him off themBWFC_Insane wrote:Jordan fecking Rhodes will be a name nobody hears in 3 years time. Same things were said about Nugent, when he was a 6M target for premiership clubs.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:Jordan Rhodes has scored 20+ goals in his last 3 seasons plus a 40 goal in 45 games season last season, Nugent had the one good season back in 06... I don't think Rhodes will do it at the top level, based on what I've seen of him.
