Happy he's alive. It's all we could ask for when it happened. We got what we really wanted and his son got his dad. Everything else is gravy.
Good luck Fab.

Not really unsurprising and feel sorry for Moo, but compared to most of the other likely outcomes, this one is probably somewhere down the pecking order.
Good luck for the future Fab.

Said on that awful night that I'd be happy to swap our premier league existence for his survival.
Got my wish. Wouldn't change a bloody bit of it.
Anything more would've been a bonus.
Good luck Fab. Hope the club find a role, if you want it Ofcourse.

Re: Fabrice Muamba
Fabrice will now never reach his potential in his chosen profession... It is important that now he finds a new route where he can excel... The club, perhaps, can help him in this...
Perhaps he has something to offer to a new generation of Bolton Wanderers players?

Not read any comments on this topic but would it be right to withdraw the number 6 in respect to Fabrice

Think it was discussed on a different thread - my view no, but there were mixed views about it.Barr Hill wrote:Not read any comments on this topic but would it be right to withdraw the number 6 in respect to Fabrice

my mate works for Aviva, they insure him! Fab certainly never needs to work again...boltonboris wrote:He's been told he has a "job for life" at Bolton.. Not sure what that would be.. Working with the kids perhaps.. Not sure he'd want to. He'll probably move back down south and enjoy the life that his short career has afforded him.

Yeah, we should ... if we were self obsessed grief merchants (Sousers in other words).Worthy4England wrote:Think it was discussed on a different thread - my view no, but there were mixed views about it.Barr Hill wrote:Not read any comments on this topic but would it be right to withdraw the number 6 in respect to Fabrice
We're celebrating that the lad survived a terriible illness but reflecting on the unfortunate fact that he has found that he won't play again.
Big shame, but it's not something which needs a mawkish reaction.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Fabrice Muamba
In the days of infinite squad numbers I'm not sure that it really has any significant symbolism. Not that I'm against it, just don't really see the point. I certainly won't be overreacting like that if we do.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Maybe we should retire it, because it's clearly cursed!
In all seriousness, keep the number alive. Anybody wearing it should know the significance that number has been gaining and we should celebrate the 2 people that represented us so well who have both worn it, with much different end-results.

Sorry to hear he has to retire and sorry you have lost a good player. I hope he succeeds in what ever he does in the future. If one good thing can come of this, its that he has raised the profile of heart problems in footballers and perhaps, because of what happened to him, other players lives may be saved when previously undetected problems will now be picked up.

With Fabrice finally hanging his boots up, Truewhite 15 pays tribute to a lovely fella:

If we haven't retired #9 then we shouldn't be retiring any numbers.truewhite15 wrote:Aye, that was my idea.Barr Hill wrote:Not read any comments on this topic but would it be right to withdraw the number 6 in respect to Fabrice

Re: Fabrice Muamba
Whereas I need some convincing over the issue to retire squad numbers, I'd be pretty fecking worried if I was handed the 6 shirt.

May the bridges I burn light your way

Re: Fabrice Muamba
The number 9 shirt though is associated with glory and legends of the club, sadly the number 6 jersey will forever be tinged with tragedy yet still worn by legends in a different right. Id say its completely different circumstances and would be 100% behind the club if it's a procedure they hope to follow.H. Will the club receive a insurance payout for this?
