I don't think we can read too much into that photo, sure it isn't exactly 'flattering' but the woman to the left of him doesn't have a face!

Some people just don't photograph well.
For example, whenever I have my picture taken I also appear to look like I've got a massive mound of lard round the old mid section.

Worryingly thats probably where Coyle scouted him from.
