Finally dragged my arse through Ainsworth and down to Radcliffe

30 minutes and managed to do 5.8k

Got in the car afterwards and it was still 20 degrees - no wonder I suffered

You'd better find out the nearest train station to the stand we're in.

Have run 4 consecutive days this week (which I never do)

Monday - Speed endurance - 30 minutes continuous hilly loops with 10 squats 'rest' between laps. 1 mile jog to and from the session

Tuesday - 2 miles slow with my daughter who I'm training.

Wednesday - 12 minutes hard running. Managed 1.8 miles in 12 minutes. Aiming for 1.85 to get me towards a sub 20 minute 5k

Thursday - 1 mile easy 3 miles hard (20:33) 1 mile easy

I have a hills session tomorrow which should cover about 5 miles.

That's 20 miles for the week with most at effort. I ache.

Did a 10k at Bispham last weekend, which I was determined would become a PB. Nice flat course and weather was just right. Left my Garmin at my brothers so had no idea how I'd done until results finally came on line tonight. 42 minutes dead. Am well chuffed with that and makes up for running only once since.

Whoah! That's excellent HG. My PB for 10k is 43:47.

What was your previous best?

Cheers Gary. 44.06 was my PB from 2 years ago. Whisper it, but according to some last Sundays race was 400m short of 10K. I, of course, prefer to put my trust in the organisers and the record books

You can only beat what's in front of you pal. And a pb is a pb. Not looking forward to this morning's session. Not keen on running in the heat.

So first athletics match in a long time and only the 2 events. I was pretty rubbish!

High Jump went out at only about 1.25 but my run up was all over the place, still, i wasn't last (I was the shortest competitior by quite a way though which i know will stagger and amaze GtE...)

Triple jump, that used to be my favourite event, i came 3rd in. Poor jumping, about a metre behind my PB though it slowly improved once i had a run up sorted and was taking off on the board rather then a foot or so behind.

Football tomorrow. Pre-season friendly and roll on/off subs so i won't be playing 90 minutes which is just as well. Supposed to be sunny all week! :)

Did not envy the track runners today. Your session this morning must have been hot work GtE.

No, I'd have been staggered and amazed had you been the tallest.

I wasn't on the track today I was doing a figure of 8 hill session around a (hilly) field. Exposed to the sun practically the whole time I have now sunburn on my sunburn.

I'll look out for the lobster Monday then.

Hopefully we have done badly enough to be relegated today! Got promoted to the premier division and are well out of a depth. Up against Reading AC, South London Harriers, Windsor, slough and Eton AC, Newquay and a whole load more big clubs.

Last match is in Exeter - Newquays home fixture, we aren't going - though if Bish wants I'll post him my vest and he can take part in whatever event takes his fancy for us.

Spent this morning helping out at a kids athletics taster session. I had agreed to help out without really knowing what was expected of me and ended up teaching a group of 8-12 year olds the Javelin. I've never worked with children before (I dont know how you do it GG!) and haven't thrown a javelin since I was about 14 - talk about being out of my comfort zone. Mrs G thought this was hilarious since even she says I throw like a girl

I'll apologise now for the lack of Javelin contenders from Bolton at the 2020 games :(

But you're not committed enough to come to Crawley to?! Humph! Thought you were well into this supporting athletics lark!

Will ignore the 'throwing like a girl' comment ;)

Nice one HG, you're still here so they can't have eaten you alive! Teaching the discus is even more complicated, be grateful you didn't have to do that! Am sure they had a whale of a time with you and no trips to A & E = result!!!

(Though i am surprised you were allowed to coach! If their had been a trip to A and e you'd have been stuffed with no coaching badges and thus insurance!)
