Re: Bolton v Derby
Conversation over morning coffee.
Me: (Rubbing hands together) , Bolton play tonight.
She: Again?
Me: Yep, going for a win tonight.
She: You always say that, but they never do. They’re rubbish.
Me: Aye, but we’re in a lower league now and Saturday was only the first game of the season.
She: Who are they playing?
Me: Derby County, in Derbyshire. (She’s a Scouser and only knows them and Manchester United)
She: Ah, Mr Darcy lived in Derbyshire didn’t he?
Me: Er yes love, but that was just fiction.
She: Pride and Prejudice!
Me: Aye, sounds a bit like our forum. We’re full of pride but we have some prejudices too.
She: Don’t know why you bother, it only makes you grumpy when you lose.
Me: We won’t.
She: Har, har, right.
Me: Go on then, make a score prediction.
She: 1-1 or they’ll lose.
Me: If that happens you’ll see grumpiness on a whole new level.
She: Huh, what else is new. Now shift, I want to hoover .

Don't worry. I have a bet on that we will win 2-1 with a Sordell winner in the last 10min

In our house it's:
"Why are you always nagging me"
"I don't nag you, for gods sake"
"See you're doing it now, you 'kin bell-end"
"Oh. Fvck off"
You seem happier than me...

I don't think, after the horrors of last season, I'll survive a match won in the last ten minutes.
Re: Bolton v Derby
Shouldn't worry too much - it probably won't be won at alltruewhite15 wrote:I don't think, after the horrors of last season, I'll survive a match won in the last ten minutes.

Re: Bolton v Derby
'Eagles' and 'impact' in the same sentence.
What's the opposite of 'impact'? Repulsive? Avoidance? Fannyarseing around like a schoolgirl?
MotM tonight now.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Re: Bolton v Derby
Usually I'd hazard a guess at the line-up, and have a little guess at the score, but when I think logically about this one, I don't like what I see.
We were awful against Burnely. No grit in midfield. What I'm thinking is we need to have 5 in the middle. But then I think that, if we failed to score with 2 up top, why revert to 1. Anyway - I'll be 100% honest and say this is the team I would pick:
Bogdan
Mears Knight Mills Ricketts
Andrews
Eagles Pratley Petrov
Mavies
Sordell
The only one I hesitated on was Eagles or Chungy.
As for the result? My head says 1-1.
And this is the most depressing post I think I've ever submitted.

That's probably the funniest one you've told this week

Re: Bolton v Derby
Drop Knight when he had a decent game? Petrov was innefective, is not much of a defender and we have Wilde. I'd still like to see Alonso given more time; he's useful going forward and we've got to stop being so defensive and take it to the opposition. We need to show some energy, stop taking ten minutes on every throw in and take command of games. It's pretty hard to look jaded on the first game of the season, yet we managed it somehow.Jez wrote:--------Boggers----------

Re: Bolton v Derby
OC Has been saying all week that we were poor in the second half (we were poor full stop), reading in between the lines he seems to think we played well in the first half????? think he must have been watching the Cricket next door!!
With this evidence in hand I predict the same tired line up yet again! Will this man ever learn?

I'd be tempted to play Vela instead of Pratley.General Mannerheim wrote:this would absolutely be my line up too.Owen'sEleven wrote:Usually I'd hazard a guess at the line-up, and have a little guess at the score, but when I think logically about this one, I don't like what I see.

Andrews to sit. Vela to be disciplined and not overly keen to get forward, but to be the passing option for the others and keep the ball moving. Then Davies as the attacking midfielder to get into the pockets of space between Derby's defence and midfield

Re: Bolton v Derby
I remember after the home game against Fulham Coyle came out with this pearler.
'..for 20 minutes there was only one team in it.'
So, for half of the first half they couldn't touch us but for the rest of it.....?
I have said it a million times. Put down the Irn Bru and pick up the Special Brew.

I haven't seen enough of Vela, but you're not the only one calling for him. Re: Bolton v Derby
I haven't either to be honest, but from what I have seen, he's useful in possession and always shows for a pass.
Pratley is good at running off players high up the pitch, but we need to get a feckin' grip of the ball in and around the centre circle. He's our only option for that.
All he has to do is show for it and move it on, but it'll only work if we go with 3 central midfielders.

Re: Bolton v Derby
I'm wondering if we shouldn't try something a bit more defensive, given we've feck all in midfield. Old skool back 5, but with wing type backs, with whatever 3 in midfield you can stomach, with eagles or Mavies off a mobile striker. Petrov might not be the best in the 3, but you could chuck in a harder working CYL or Vela. Either way, more defense and less wingers. We can't carry 2 of them with our midfield options right now.
Bogdan
Knight Mills Ricketts
Mears Alonso
Pratley Andrews Petrov
Mavies/Eagles
Sordell

Re: Bolton v Derby
OE's starting lineup would be bang on the money for me too. Perhaps if I was being picky id go Eagles (our best player in pre season) over Mark Davies (our second worse alongside his namesake). Overall wouldnt moan at either.

I'd go:
Leam Richardson, Gerald Cid, Lubo Michalik, Jon Otsemobor
Emmanuel Morini, Olafur Snorasson, Franck Passi, Djibril Diawara, Pierre Yves Andre
Salvador Ballesta,
It'd STILL be better than Saturday..
