N'gog, for all his hype, has been a disappointment so far for me. How many full games has he played since we signed him? We need one of our strikers to step up, become a force and start scoring and become an automatic choice as front man. One real plus with KD, faults regardless, is he never cries off with injury. Afobe-one-kanobe is a loanee and we need Sordell or N'gog to start making their presence felt up front if we're going to build a permanent team.
If only he'd cried off on Saturday........
Which might be a relevant comment if he were the only one who played badly. Like we'd have won if he hadn't played? We've become a slow, defence-minded side with a jittery midfield and too much going square and backwards. Burnley attacked us constantly but I'm struggling to remember too much of us doing the same in comparison. Find solutions, not victims.

Defence minded????!!!!! When did that happen? :D

Davo was poor at the few things he should have done at weekend. Nothing to do with him missing 5 sitters or owt. That said, you could make a case for dropping 8 or 9 of Saturday's team on that performance, only one of 'em being Davo.
coyle consistantly got all 11 men in our own box every time they won a free kick, personally in the ideal situation we would play 3-4-3 every game(as coyle actully would be superb in implementing those tactics) with afobe, ngog and kd up front

BWFC_Insane wrote: KD's complete lack of movement on Saturday though was one of the major problems TD. Sordell was asked to do the drop back into midfield and work job. Davies proceeded to stand up front and back into centre backs, rather than offer an out.

When Afobe came on he dropped a few yards off to pick the ball up, spun, passed across the ground and brought the wide men into play.

As I say the two or three times Davies got the ball into feet, he tried to dink it round the corner and gave it away, passed it straight back to them, and thirdly passed it straight into touch.

Afobe didn't stand on his centre back, he moved them around, ran the channels and looked like he at least wanted to GIVE an option. By no means is he a perfect answer, or at this stage a particularly good player. But he had the sense to think that backing into your centre half for the thirty minutes he was on, was not the way forwards.

If KD is to play and be effective as it stands, he has to offer movement, and link up the play, and stretch the defence down the sides.
Once again you seem to be missing the point. I'm not advocating KD even plays. I'm just saying play or no, the team as a whole needs to shape up. They were shocking. His lack of movement wasn't one of the major problems as you claim, the team were the major problem, the whole lot and ommiting none of them. As for running channels, what channels were those exactly? Football is full of gobbledegook terms disguising the fact that we played at two mile a fortnight pace and were so obvious a team of pensioners on zimmer frames could have defended against us.

Do you really not know what "running the channels" means Tango?

Davo used to offer us a good, solid outball when we were under pressure by "running the channels". Henry was the true master at this.

But now, he stands still centre of the goal on the edge of the centre circle.

That's being FAR too easy to mark, which meant a lot of the times, our defenders and midfielders had nobody to pass to and had to resort to punting it it as far as they could, so they could get up, get higher up the pitch and get their 'shape' (not that we have much of that) back.

And I know, you can say the midfielders should be passing and moving into space to get the passes back, but when it's man for man in the centre of the park, it's easier said than done.

Davies no longer works for the team.. It's not an attitude thing, it's not even his fault.. He's just finished. It happens.

Do you mind awfully if I don't answer that? If I were that thick I could probably find it on Google or somewhere.

I didn;t mean it to sound patronising.. Just thought it might have been called something different back in the day! ;-)

Like "Milkin't Cow", "Ploughin't field"... or "Courtin't Pavement"

Look at it this way: Until somebody tells Bogdan "When taking goal kicks, look wher KD is, then bang it anywhere but there, nothing will change. KD isn't mobile any more, and that's what's needed, I couldn't agree more, but as long as the opposition know that goalkicks will inevitably land where he is, they just stick two defenders on him and snuff it out. We used to call it mobility and creating space, by the way. On Saturday if we'd had the English Channel to aim at w'd probably have landed the ball in France.

well i have been to games against both united and blackburn and we seemed to be inflicting more hate on burnley then we ever do against united or bburn. put it this way how many people sang "your mom your dad" at burnley whereas i have never heard munich 58 songs being sang against united by more than a few individuals if any
