Can't afford to plan on the assumption he'll be playing anytime soon on that basis. Shaved ape from pool to the rescue.

Re: Holden update
It's somewhat different to the 'October return' date Coyle put out at the forum. Sounds like he is stil some way off at best!
Re: Holden update
Not really sure he'll play again tbh. Maybe it's just the pervading feeling of misery.

Re: Holden update
He's young enough to recover. Maybe he'll do what that irish lad did spend 3 years looking incurable then head off to upton park and play every week.
Doesnt sound good tho.Having his knee cleaned out implies there is some problem that hasnt been fixed.

Yep, can't help but think we've seen the last of him.

Re: Holden update
His games all about running round like a mentalist...if he were ever to be fit again he may need to reinvent himself as a hold(en)ing midfielder?

Re: Holden update
He'd be perfect in that role I reckon.. But then you're taking away the fact that he's also perfect in a 4-4-2 which means we can still play 2 strikers and lose nowt in midfield.
If he was fit, we wouldn't be in the market for a DM in my opinion.
Which suggests he's still far away with his recovery

Re: Holden update
Can certainly see that. I guess if he does get fit it may be a hell of a challenge having the confidence to go in for tackles in anything like the way he used to though. If anything he tended to be overcommited.officer_dibble wrote:His games all about running round like a mentalist...if he were ever to be fit again he may need to reinvent himself as a hold(en)ing midfielder?
Hope he gets back but really underlines the need for a midfield signing, ideally someone who can bring a left back with them

Re: Holden update
As has been said, with every set back it looks more and more likely that he'll never wear our colours again.
This upsets me greatly. Not just because of his ability, but because he seems like an absolute gem of a bloke and one who genuinely cares about the club. Which is rare nowadays.

Re: Holden update
Is it just me that sees the positive side to what has been printed? If the specialist confirms his recovery is continuing, he can step it up a gear. Sounds positive to me?

Re: Holden update
I have remained positive about this the whole time but I am starting to worry. I keep an eye on his twitter and he is always so positive and used to talk about his rehab all the time. Now he doesnt mention it as regularly. I remember him saying he had stepped it up quite a while ago, he was doing double sessions and loads of thigns and seemed like he was on his way back. there must have been another setback since then. I dont know whether a clean-up is routine or code for another worrying surgery. He had surgery after the villa game where he came back but I dont remember if that was publicised and if it was whether they called it a clean up.
I really hope he can come back and be the player he was. I think if any player at the club has the determination to come back strong it would be stu but lets hope the determination is enough

Re: Holden update
The surgery he had after the Villa game was publicized, and led to the discovery of a secondary injury that needed to be rectified. I don't remember it ever being referred to as a clean-up.jjstewart wrote:I have remained positive about this the whole time but I am starting to worry. Re: Holden update
From the article, the "clean-up" being referred to seems to have been three weeks ago, rather than the secondary injury that was discovered after the Villa game.truewhite15 wrote:The surgery he had after the Villa game was publicized, and led to the discovery of a secondary injury that needed to be rectified. Re: Holden update
People on here can be unbelievably pessimistic at times! I don't think the injuries he has had are anything overly serious and if he's working with the right personal trainers and specialists, there's no reason to suspect that he won't be able to make a full recovery. Maybe he will, maybe he won't, it depends entirely on the person and their ability to recover. I'd rather wait and see than expect the worst for no reason at all.

Re: Holden update
He got a horrible injury & missed 6+ months. He returned only to find a 'new' injury which was operated upon & he was due back maybe April. That became close-season, which then extended to 'maybe October' and now, maybe longer.SmokinFrazier wrote:People on here can be unbelievably pessimistic at times! I want Holden back as much as any fan, but don't blame me for fearing he's not going to make it !!

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
