We need more tactics and less motivation
As the thread title says the team honestly seem optimistic and positive what we need now is some identity be that longball hardmen as we were often said to be of tipy tap barca hopefulls akin to swansea,
my hopes for this season is obviously winning the division and getting straight back to the "Bigtime" of the premier league (sorry owen) Barclays premier league.
something lacking from bolton in recent years has been for me a lack of a difinitive club identity and us all getting used to regular performances and some new blood uptop (sorry superkev)
in my oppinion our first team (injurys permitting) is as follows
Formation : 4231
Rb Mears
CB knight (replace with wheater when fit)
Cb Mills
lb ricketts
CDm Andrews
cdm ream
Ram CYL
Cam Eagles (replace with holden possibly if he is done with his rehab)
Lam Petrov
St Ngog
all in all a solid looking team abeit with a lack of goals but goals will start to emerge soon enough.
COywm!!

Captain Clueless doesn't have a tactic in his bloody bones.
18 months of shambles has shown that.

But if you're seriously suggesting Coyle is in the same fecking school as Clough, you need your head testing more than I first surmised.

And dare I suggest that it's a somewhat different game to when Clough was punching his own players in the dressing room!

Might just be that Brian clough is saying you can have all the tactics you want, but if players don't follow them and do their jobs, you lose. Just a thought.BWFC_Insane wrote:And dare I suggest that it's a somewhat different game to when Clough was punching his own players in the dressing room!

How does that mean you don't need tactics?

Re: We need more tactics and less motivation
We need more than that....
We need a proper manager, proper coaches and some players that actually give a fcuk instead of playing like a set of scared schoolboys, we are wide open through the middle, our midfield is slow & soft as shite and we never close down and don't contest the 2nd balls. Same all last season but does clueless Coyle do anything about it, he's as bad a manager as we've ever had, our bench look like the flowerpot men.
Organisation, shape, tactics are non existent - we play like 11 strangers who are not coached during the week and time after time told to just go out and play....in almost every game we only ever play with intensity & tempo for 10 mins out of 90. We have players easily good enough to get promotion, but we need a manager who can get them playing together in a formation & shape that suits them - and that's not Coyle he couldn't organise a primary school raffle.
IMO only Eagles last night came out with any credit - the rest where average at best, considering we were playing another poor team at home.

disingenuous tango!! why you were only on here the other day moaning about the tactic of continuously hoofing the ball into the stratosphere... a tactic which SKD appears to endorse...TANGODANCER wrote:"Players lose you games, not tactics. Re: We need more tactics and less motivation
a few things i learned from last nights game (some i allready knew about)
Negatives:
mills cant head the ball at all
mears is impatient and is likely going to be a great fullback for the championship
mark davies dribbling through midfeild is suicidal when were struggling to defend
Positives:
andrews looks like a great signing
we look electric going forward capable of creating chances from any position
i cant wait to see Ngog and sordell as our front 2
SKd is gonna have a great season
knight and ricketts are better than people give them credit for
all in all the championship is looking like much more of a change than i expected/was lead to belive and literally playing all out attack all match will win us lots of games , if we played like we did last night in the prem we would have lost 5 - 2 and hopefully our defence begins to work much harder and be much more decisive.
still think we will go right back up though ^^

while brian clough did very well in his time im certain he had more defensive organisation (tactics) than we currently do , not to mention he was allways tooting his own horn enough for (if someone had the time) im sure could find a quote by him heralding tactics as the reason he took every team to the heights he did.

Re: We need more tactics and less motivation
I'm not actually understanding that? How does that relate to what Brian Clough said? And SKD himself said yesterday that he should maybe get a few more on his chest and get the ball down. Clough was saying players not doing their jobs was what lost games, not a lack of tactics, just folk banging on about them when players were the reason games got lost; at least that's how I read it? It all seems simple enough to me?thebish wrote:disingenuous tango!! why you were only on here the other day moaning about the tactic of continuously hoofing the ball into the stratosphere... a tactic which SKD appears to endorse...TANGODANCER wrote:"Players lose you games, not tactics. Re: We need more tactics and less motivation
Clough's sidekick did all the "tactics" (thinking), Mssr Taylor I believe was his name. Clough did the man managing and kicking folks in the bullocks. Good division of labour I say. We instead have a mafia setup where the godfather has no plan b and his relatives are too busy eating pies and trying to also squeeze into training kits. In between they mooch a living off he club and tell OC how clever hE is.

Re: We need more tactics and less motivation
Whilst we are at it like, does anyone see a group of players who are properly motivated in these games? Cos short of all the tactics and systems and selections I still think we are not looking as bright as I'd expect.
Can't work out if they are short of confidence, cant be arsed or just not together as a group and behind the manager.
Either way it would be nice to see 90 minutes where we look like a team rather than 11 individuals!

Re: We need more tactics and less motivation
I think we might have a Plan B but I reckon the underling sat to Coyle's left keeps forgetting to bring it with him. He's forever flicking through his folder trying to find something (that is when he's not staring blankly out towards the centre circle).Holden midfielder wrote:We instead have a mafia setup where the godfather has no plan b and his relatives are too busy eating pies and trying to also squeeze into training kits.

There was a lot right about the rest of your post but I'm not having that. LCY & Andrews both had good games. SKD & Eagles were excellent.Peter Thompson wrote:IMO only Eagles last night came out with any credit - the rest where average at best, considering we were playing another poor team at home.
How do you know we were playing a poor team? They looked pretty good to me, well organised and since they haven't been beaten yet this season - what are you basing this assessment on?

on the fact that they didn't beat us? ergo - they must be pretty poor!Harry Genshaw wrote: How do you know we were playing a poor team? They looked pretty good to me, well organised and since they haven't been beaten yet this season - what are you basing this assessment on?
