Re: Bolton v Forest thread
I think both teams would think they coulda won.bobo the clown wrote:Well, I wasn't able to be there last night & kust saw the goals on tv. Forest's first, & I know you can go on about 'closing down' & all that but, was a beaut. You just have to applaud that. The second, centre-halves too far apart &/or slow. Ours, v calm by Eagles. That could easily have been skied. Sordell did v well to make something of KD's cross for the second.
Of course I saw nothing else so not able to comment, but remarks on here suggest we coulda, woulda, shoulda won ... but there were still stages where we were 2nd best.

Nothing to do with the centre-halves and everything to do with no-one tracking Andy Reid as he ambled into the penalty area.bobo the clown wrote:The second, centre-halves too far apart &/or slow.

One thing I fogot to mention last night. Just where was everyone??? The stadium looked half empty and I'll plait sawdust if there were more than 12,000 on.

Cheers, Franz Carr, for a good, and fair, contribution. Nice to meet an opposition fan with some brains, because we get some real plonkos on here. Pop in anytime. Thanks again.

Agreed. You showed more class than your namesake ever did in a Bolton shirt! A very fair assessment.TANGODANCER wrote:Cheers, Franz Carr, for a good, and fair, contribution. Nice to meet an opposition fan with some brains, because we get some real plonkos on here. Pop in anytime. Thanks again.

Seconded. I feel pint or two in the TBI coming on for the away game. You up for it, Franz?thebish wrote:cheers Franz - you are always welcome here... a voice of sanity!!

And I forgot to mention, another game where Mark Davies was only notable by the fact he wasn't contributing anything useful on the pitch.
We can't afford passengers and more often than not he's a passenger.
And before anyone says about roles, I'd not be building a team around him, he's not shown nearly enough for that.
Like to see Andrews and Pratley next game, just to see if it works better, though I hope by then we have a more suitable alternative procured!

Aye. Please can somebody superglue our Stu back together please?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

My thinking is he might have more presence in midfield especially for away from home. He's not a great technical player but I just think he may be able to disrupt slightly more than Mark Davies.William the White wrote:Spot on... Re: Bolton v Forest thread
Had to go to bed before the first half ended (it was 4am) so I missed our goals. From the 30 odd minutes I saw, it seemed like we were making a very conscious effort not to hoof it early on. At one point Bogdan tried rolling it out even when there were too many Forest players about.
It's a start but we need a better MF in order for a passing game to work.

I don't think we'd have much of an issue playing 4-4-2 without Davies in the team. I like him but he's required to do far too much in that role and it's simply not to his strengths. It'd be harsh to drop him, because I do think he has a lot of quality, but if he can't play the role, he can't play it. I think a 4-4-2 with a midfield of Andrews and either Pratley or Vela would be far more successful.BWFC_Insane wrote:And I forgot to mention, another game where Mark Davies was only notable by the fact he wasn't contributing anything useful on the pitch.

Re: Bolton v Forest thread
Are either Davies or Pratley really suited to playing in a four? I wouldn't mind seeing them both in a five, but who'd we play up top?

Re: Bolton v Forest thread
I think we should try Vela alongside Andrews. If we're too worried about trying him in the Championship, then WTF was he doing near the team in the Premiership? We know Mavies and Pratley in a 4 will result more of the same shite, so lets try the other option available if the 5 is not going to happen.

I'm up for it mate. I haven't tried the TBI for a while. Has been taken on by Wetherspoons I believe and is better run now.Bruce Rioja wrote:Seconded. Anyway, I will leave you all in peace for a few months. I shall return in the lead up to the game in February for a bit of discussion and to give you the benefit of my extensive knowledge of parking, drinking and eating around the City Ground.
Good luck with the season until then.
Cheers
