Nope don't do Farnworth Asda either. If it's THAT critical - I just have them deliver it.TANGODANCER wrote:Exactly right Worthy. Odd time I get dragged into Farnwoth Asda I take the dog along so I have to stay outside. Rest the Mrs gets a cab home and I carry the stuff up the path. Only very extreme situations (like having to buy cards and that stuff) every get me shopping. Most shops are a pain but supermarkets are utterly in the nightmare class. Amazonian women gabbing side by side in alleyways, folk wandering about like they're lost in the dark in a maze, not a safe-zone you can just stand in while the Mrs shops, and ....the ......... morons who whack you just above the heel and take the skin off, with a bread-van sized trolley they can hardly see over then glare at you as if you're to blame for existing. Oh, yes, shopping, bring it on (not)Worthy4England wrote: I knocked that bit on the head completely, no reason at all for the missus to need me there when she's shopping, so I just refuse point blank!

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Fortunately, the Mrs knows my views (and outbusrst) and is quite happy to leave me at home, mainly after my tirade when stood in front of a stack of milk the size of an artic, but a stupid bloke asked me to move so he could get the carton right behind me. That did it...

I don't mind nipping for a few things, but not for the big shop. No way. That said, nipping for a few things is usually my excuse to buy 'emergency' beer/wine after a shit day.Worthy4England wrote:Now that you've "come out", there'll probably be others...Bruce Rioja wrote:Am I the only bloke on here that quite enjoys the social interaction of going to the supermarket ?
There i've said it. I don't mind supermarket shopping, to some extent.

Really? Didn't know that. Will have to check out the menu online. Cheers.boltonboris wrote:They don't just do Sushi.. They do hot Katsu Curry dishes, vegetarian sushi rolls, Chicken salads.. Gyoza. The lot.. The actual sushi is probably about 30% of what they do there.Burnden Paddock wrote:Both myself and Miss BP love the smells coming from Yo Sushi. Just not sure that we could go and find enough that we'd want to eat there. Will give it a try one day.boltonboris wrote:Haha... I struggle to go in Selfridges at the Trafford Centre without either going to Yo Sushi, or getting a curry from the stall..
Did the offer they have at the curry stall a few months ago, ended up with loads of stuff and very good it was too.
It's easy to get carried away though, so the 30% off on the o2 priority app thing comes in handy.
Oh and Worthy.. I absolutely detest the place, but I usually get fed at this place when I get dragged along..

Re: Where are you going tonight?
If it's absolutely imperative, then I'd rather go on my own. Far quicker, much less chance of trying to guess which aisle she'll appear out of next, and less hassle altogether. Add to that a one-way trip without reversing, going back for forgotten things and I just join the nearest queue and I'm done.Bruce Rioja wrote:Am I the only bloke on here that quite enjoys the social interaction of going to the supermarket ?

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Dont mind popping in for the odd thing but I only do the big shop once a year. Mrs G drags me along to help her at Xmas. I moan all the way round so it usually gives me respite for another 360 odd days before I have to go again.
On a similar theme, I advised her a few weeks back that I wouldn't be attending anymore weddings unless its immediate family (brothers, niece or nephews). No more cousins, workmates or folk we went to college with. I hate em. Turning up to be introduced to someone I've never met, probably never will again and then have some drunk aunt try and drag me up dancing. <shudders>
Thats bad enough but I've also had to fork out for a present

I don't enjoy the social interaction of the supermarket, but I DO do most of the shopping.Bruce Rioja wrote:Am I the only bloke on here that quite enjoys the social interaction of going to the supermarket ?
main reasons?
1. it's a feck load cheaper when i do it
2. the fridge isn't crammed with crappy salad products
3. the impulse-buy food that we will never eat is eliminated
4. the fridge isn't crammed with crappy salad products
5. I always remember the red wine

Some of the reasons are ;

2. the fridge isn't crammed with crappy salad products
3. the impulse-buy food that we will never eat is there in abundance
4. the fridge isn't crammed with crappy salad products

6. I get to buy loads of meat, yet next to no veg.
So, not THAT different.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I was there too. Not out of choice, I might add. Not bad for a fiver in the end I suppose. At least we weren't caught in that downpour.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Currently sat in a marquee at Bolton Food Festival waiting to see Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

Mrs BP is the lover of baking in our house. She churns out loads of cakes, biscuits etc which I very rarely eat.Annoyed Grunt wrote:I went through choice....love baking.Burnden Paddock wrote:I was there too. Not out of choice, I might add. We went to the Hairy Bikers show last year. I enjoyed that one more, but this one wasn't bad. The whisk thing was a bit odd. Your Mrs got the biggest laugh of the show.

Didn't think the markets were as good as last year. I was looking forward to another pork pie with mushy peas inside it.

Are you going to apply again? You really should. We could have a 'watch with the forum' every week.

I bought a goat curry off of a stall from somewhere near Darwen at last year's do. Goat's meat's lovely. Very disappointed with the curry I bought though due to lack of goat.Burnden Paddock wrote: I went with jerk chicken and curried goat. Haven't tried goat before, but it was excellent.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
I was at a mates party a few years ago where there were a lot of Nigerians and someone had done a goat curry. Was lovely but I had a bit of a shock when I tried to take a bite out of the pasta tubes they'd put in. Nearly broke mi teeth. Didn't realise they cooked it with the bones inBruce Rioja wrote:I bought a goat curry off of a stall from somewhere near Darwen at last year's do. Goat's meat's lovely.
