Assuming we'd get all of that £10M, that's a lot of cash, especially when we have plenty of wingers at the club. I'd like LCY to stay but it wouldn't be the worst business in the world to sell him for a decent price, even if it just goes to pay off the debt.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Wigan are interested in Van Persie.
They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.

£10mil is ridiculous money, but as always, how would we spend it? I presume it'll cost us more than £10mil when Jay Spearing and Junior Stanislas (both of whom will inevitably sit on the bench for their first three months) fail to take us up.

10M is all well and good. But based on Coyles spending so far, it would be completely wasted. I don't trust him to buy, and then get the best out of what he's bought.

If folk didn't want to take £6m for Mark Davies then Chungy is worth pretty much half of South America. As territory. Minerals and all. Not a fecking chance we can get better, so if we don't need to sell, and he isn't kicking off, go get f*cked. Especially to those cnuts.

bang on. cant believe that some on here criticised his contribution against Forest. clearly only about 80% but still the best player on show. and for those who clamour for M Davies in a 4-5-1 i reckong Lee would be a far bette rprospect in that role

I thought you wanted us to take the cash for M Davies?BWFC_Insane wrote:10M is all well and good. But based on Coyles spending so far, it would be completely wasted. I don't trust him to buy, and then get the best out of what he's bought.

I would. Because Mark Davies isn't anywhere near as good as the 6M Swansea apparently offered. Not in my opinion. He has gone missing twice already this season.thebish wrote:I thought you wanted us to take the cash for M Davies?BWFC_Insane wrote:10M is all well and good. He's clearly not suitable for a 4-4-2. And for me not worth building a 4-5-1 around.
I'd not trust Coyle with the money in that case either but the plus side of that would be that we would presumably be forced into buying and accomodating someone who could tackle.
Seeing as at least we know that's his target.
God only knows what he'd do with 10M for LCY!

if you don't trust coyle with £10mill I don't know why you'd want him to be spending £6mill....

To fill the gaping hole in midfield?
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
well - yes - but selling Mavies to give Coyle money to do that does involve some measure of trust!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:To fill the gaping hole in midfield?

Shows how far we've come...thebish wrote:well - yes - but selling Mavies to give Coyle money to do that does involve some measure of trust!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:To fill the gaping hole in midfield?
I share BWFCi's concern; I'd be worried if £16m of hard-earned asset liquidation was entrusted to a man whose record on expenditure appears somewhat questionable.
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
me too... just seems a bit contradictory to be so desperate to entrust £6mill into coyles hands when you don't trust him to spend it wisely - when it seems we already do have the funds to get hold of the player coyle wants for that midfield hole...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Shows how far we've come...thebish wrote:well - yes - but selling Mavies to give Coyle money to do that does involve some measure of trust!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:To fill the gaping hole in midfield?

Cos Mark Davies flatters to deceive but LCY is the real deal, and proven in the top flight!thebish wrote:me too... just seems a bit contradictory to be so desperate to entrust £6mill into coyles hands when you don't trust him to spend it wisely - when it seems we already do have the funds to get hold of the player coyle wants for that midfield hole...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Shows how far we've come...thebish wrote:well - yes - but selling Mavies to give Coyle money to do that does involve some measure of trust!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:To fill the gaping hole in midfield?

Replacing Mark Davies is merely a matter of finding someone who can fill midfield.
LCY is a whole different situation.

Zat Knight urging Coyle to approach Reo-Cocker with a deal :

Would you have him back , would the players who he left for "premiership football" (and hasn't got) want him back? I know Knight is his big bubby but not sure how it would go down in the dressing room.
For me I would take him back for a season, Provided the players were happy with it, he'd be a lot cheaper to sign ,( but isn't "one for the future"),than Spearing

y'see - sometimes you give the (obviously false) impression that you think Coyle is irredeemably crap and not to be trusted even with your dinner money....
I'm glad to see that, in reality, you have a more nuanced stance...
also glad to hear that finding this saviour midfielder is pretty simple. things are looking up!

Would the players want him back? No idea, but im sure he has many friends in the dressing room and even others can recognise he is a good player.
Would the manager want him back though...I doubt it, and tbh I don't blame him. I guess you dont really want a club full of these 'abandon ship' types but he was decent at this club (big fish in a little pond I guess) and if he was seriously considering Hull City then come on home Nigel.

Might be a little humiliating... Not best for a manager fighting for his reputation.
I remember Rioch's back-page "Come home, son" plea to Andy Walker when the latter's negotiations with Celtic flailed... But BR had taken us up, not down.
That said, if the alternative was yet another season without sufficient midfield backbone, Coyle would be a fool not to. Cue jokes.
