Sky Sports understands Bolton are one of five clubs chasing Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing.

Premier League trio Queens Park Rangers, Aston Villa and Southampton as well as Wolves are all thought to be keeping tabs on Spearing's situation.

"Sky sources" means Twitter. "Understands" is used generally as a weasel word meaning "unconfirmed report which we kind of trust but not enough to repeat without a question mark".

Exactly, which is why I said trying to apply logic to it, is pointless. Spearing may have only become available recently. Perhaps we had another fantastic player lined up after Sanchez that fell through....
