My grandson's not expecting us to win this, because Crawley are a "top side". Grand lad and love him to bits, but shamefully he's a plastic Manc and his statement is of course based on them only just managing to put Crawley out of the cup by the skin of their teeth a while back. This has to make them a "top side" of course. I'm looking forward to reminding him of it if/when we win.

Aren't Crawley known for their so-called giant killings lately? It'll be a tough match but one we should be heading into as favourites.

Aye, last three seasons they've won a few cup games. Old-money division names used for ease and vintageness.

2012/13, as a Division 3 team:
LC1 beat Millwall (D2) on penalties, away after 2-2 draw

2011/12, as a D4 team:
FAC1 beat D3 Bury 2-0 away
FAC3 beat D2 Bristol City 1-0 at home
FAC4 beat D2 Hull 1-0 away
FAC5 lost to D1 Stoke 2-0 at home

2010/11, as a non-league team:
FA2 beat D3 Swindon 3-2 AET away game after drawing at home
FA3 beat D2 Derby 2-1 at home
FA4 beat D4 Torquay 1-0 away
FA5 lost at D1 Man U 1-0

From what the article said it isn't as simple as 'can't make more than five changes'.

"The Football League operates a similar rule in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, where clubs must play at least six regular first-teamers, based on overall appearances or previous and subsequent games."

Ream, Petrov, N'Gog could all feature based on that without being part of the 'five'. Sordell probably can't :D.

Official Team

Lonergan,
Riley, Knight, Ream, Alonso,
Eagles, Vela, Andrews, M Davies, Petrov,
Afobe

Could this mean he's actually giving Mavies behind the striker a chance or is he going to stick him out wide and put Eagles behind the striker

Coyle finds 4-5-1 down the back of the couch... Never to be used again if, as I expect, we lose...

I'm here, anyway. Tidy little ground. Sorry, I meant tiny little ground. Good luck to em though, now yon Evans has gone.

Joe Riley, Vela and Afobe starting in a 451? has Coyle been reading this forum recently?

Arguably a better team than Friday's.

btw - where's Pratley ? He can't still be troubled by having a large gash on his leg !

He's on the far end of a very strong bench.

Bogdan, Mills, Wylde, K Davies, Ricketts, Sordell, Pratley

Another couple getting fit or bought & he'll be struggling to get into the 3rd XI.

Oh dear, how did he manage to become a plastic Manc without intervention from his grandad? Surely that's child cruelty?

300 to 400 wanderers, decent turnout given the distance and time of the game! Judging by the prematch warmup the safest place will be in the net
