At least the next manager will have the players to do so though.BWFC_Insane wrote:Doesn't matter who we sign if Coyle won't play a system that protects the back four.wanderers_on_tour wrote:Just seen the goals on SSN, there was a massive NRC/Muamba sized whole through the centre of midfield. Both Pratley and Andrews looked to be chasing shadows, finished from just outside the box.
He might not be ideal but I hope to god we sign Spearing sooner rather than later, I don't care if Liverpool fans rate him or not. If IRC Reo Coker was labelled useless by a few Villa fans, in fact a friend of mine said he was the worst professional footballer he'd ever seen. He's a bit of a dick though, more of a associate.

WTF happened?
We're 1-0 up, playing 4-5-1 and Tango has become the new Jeff Stelling.
I go out for a run, get home and find we've gone back to 4-4-2, and lost.
Changing formation and b inging SKD on after 3 games in 6 days

Just when I start to pull a little bit of misguided faith together this man does something so shockingly stupid that I am left wondering how any human being could have such an incredible lack of common sense

I remember making excuses for Megson's team selection and tactics to the bemused locals (and more besides) whilst in Lisbon.
I'b be beyond intrigued to understand how this situation is different.
Indeed, Allardyce was lauded for understanding how important the league is. We're not going to win it, and frankly anyone who's putting great store in a cup result right now is a bit moronic. We'll see now whether he's going to do it in the competition that matters. Even less excuses.

Nobody is questioning the team selection, they are questioning why a team playing 4-5-1 and winning with 20 minutes to go switches to 4-4-2 and loses. DSB who was there said immediately that the substitution worried him.Lord Kangana wrote:I remember making excuses for Megson's team selection and tactics to the bemused locals (and more besides) whilst in Lisbon.

I dare say he'd do a better job than the clueless clown we have now!
Re: Crawley Town / Wanderers Match Thread
It being the cup may be an excuse for playing a weakened side. I have absolutely no trouble with the team he put out to start the game. The cup has feck all to do with going from 5 to 4 in midfield when you are 1-0 up and the other side are having a good go at you. That's just stupid.Lord Kangana wrote:I remember making excuses for Megson's team selection and tactics to the bemused locals (and more besides) whilst in Lisbon.

Come on guys, it was just a bit of misfortune. He brought on a striker to kill the game off, wise move in my opinion.

Just watching that last goal again. Alonso was made to look pretty silly by the winger. £2.5m

Tonight was an indefensible disgrace.
Anyone who thinks that throwing away a result like this, with such a wretched performance (thanks dad, for the concise report from that long, long coach trip home), is in anything other than a shambles, well they are more than a little moronic.

It was the other full back who caught my eye
I might be seeing something that wasn't there but his body language - after he hadn't covered himself in glory - was a bit 'well, that was coming'

Not too arsed about the result but judging the tactical maestro's decisions tonight it should be another nail in his Bolton career. It won't be though will it?

For heaven's sake. It's the same shit all the time from him. It's like Megson's "state the obvious" interviews where he would say stuff like "Well we were in the lead and then we conceded 2 goals so we lost".Tals-biggest-fan wrote:Coyle: "We put ourselves in a good position with the early goal and it should have been the foundation to see us through. Re: Crawley Town / Wanderers Match Thread
I would honestly bet that he'll go home and sleep soundly, without it ever crossing his mind that switching formation might've had something to do with it. The man is broken.
The result tonight doesn't really matter, in the same way that the pre-season results didn't matter. The point is that it's yet another game where we've made the same mistakes looking no better than the side that was so poor last season. Yet more evidence that we're not just about to click into gear and win the league, that we're fundamentally just a bad side.
