If only for the celebrations at Wrexham! The second best thing about that game after the line below from the Roadrunner video. Well, maybe third best after promotion.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Now you're talking altho sutty ultimately was a superstar.Burnden Paddock wrote:GK - Mike Salmon

Terry Scott....
As I remember it he was quick and reasonable as a defender but couldnt pass or cross or dribble very well. Remember being a bit disappointed given his previous big club experience

Ok. Maybe i'm being a tiny bit harsh. He was in a very poor side tbf. Pele would have struggled, then again he was supposed to be our manager at the time.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Terry Scott....

As a footballer he was an excellent athlete so leave him in.Couldnt head either. Didnt he get in the burnley team because his dad owned the club or something like that?Burnden Paddock wrote:Ok. Manager's son in law. Brian Miller. Explains a lot.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:As a footballer he was an excellent athlete so leave him in.Couldnt head either. Re: Worst ever XI
Always rated Fadiga, he just had that unfortunate habit of collapsing on the pitch. I remember after he came back he played a game in front of the back four and sprayed it around as well as Campo ever did... for half an hour. Then he pulled his hamstring and I don't think he was ever seen again. He was just unfortunate, one of Sam's gambles that could've quite easily come off if he could've stayed healthy.Jokers in White wrote:Khalilou Fadiga was shite, Franck Passi was wank,
Oh, and I'll add Michael Bridges. A player who's name I have not heard once since he left us.

Re: Worst ever XI
Kahlilou Fadiga was far from site. He had magic in his boots. But fecking hell what a worry he was. I remember him coming on against Palace - he was outstanding. I also remember him dropping to the deck in the warm up against Spuds. I thought he was dead.

No way. if only for his performance in THAT game at Portman Rd.Leyther_Matt wrote:You'd be doing well to find anyone who saw much of him playing before he was hauled back to Oz for his trial (and not the footballing kind).Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:What about that Con Boutsomethingorother blokey from Oz?
Banks has to be the goalkeeper, no idea why Todd thought he was a better option ahead of Jussi.
I'll put forward Allan Johnston in a similar mould to Summerbee.
No votes for Farrelly yet?
Troll and proud of it.

Re: Worst ever XI
John O'Kane proved to me that no matter that we'd left the dark days and lower divisions behind (perhaps just for a while! Scary thought) that we had an unerring habbit of picking up godawful fullbacks.
Indeed, the epitome of shite. For any level. F*cking terrible player.
I also remember hoping beyond hope that Greg Strong might be any good. He was, of course, the opposite.

Trying to use players who were regulars or on the books for a few seasons...
Peacock
Fitzpatrick Keeley Berry Bennett
R Walker Cantello Bell
Entwistle I Moores D Cross
Cantello and Bell in hindsight were probably not awful but just very disappointing given there previous rep.As was D Cross who started like a worldbeater then put his feet up for half a season.

Remember Arnar Gunnlaugsson?
He was my first hero but I think he was shit. Wiki tells me he's had more clubs than I've had hot dinners, mind.

He briefly looked like an absolute genius. Certainly not badenough to rub armpits with those mentioned here.Verbal wrote:Remember Arnar Gunnlaugsson?
