Bish we are talking about ranking the potential replacements, being better than the current incumbent is a given!thebish wrote:so - not quite "anyone" then? turns out you're quite picky!!BWFC_Insane wrote: Just think there is a lot to management and while I'm sure Hierro is fantastic, not sure I'd want someone cutting their managerial teeth completely on us at this stage....
Just personal opinion on it I guess.

Interesting thoughts re Hierro. But on the whole I'd rather shy away from hiring an 'ex' just for the sake of it. Appreciate there might be a bit more to it with some former employees but really, I don't want to hire someone hideously underqualified.

I'd happily take an untried Gudni ahead of any of the others mentioned.Especially the horrorshow UB40 listings. Thats like trying to judge a beauty pageaunt where the only entrants are the chinese olympic shot put teamBWFC_Insane wrote:Bish we are talking about ranking the potential replacements, being better than the current incumbent is a given!thebish wrote:so - not quite "anyone" then? turns out you're quite picky!!BWFC_Insane wrote: Just think there is a lot to management and while I'm sure Hierro is fantastic, not sure I'd want someone cutting their managerial teeth completely on us at this stage....

I thought I'd qualified him beyond merely being "An ex just for the sake of it". Otherwise I'd be championing the cause of Tony Caldwell.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Interesting thoughts re Hierro. But on the whole I'd rather shy away from hiring an 'ex' just for the sake of it.

and i was thinking back to your previous answer when asked who we would replace coyle with - you said - you'd have anyone. (but now you wouldn't want Hierro...)BWFC_Insane wrote:Bish we are talking about ranking the potential replacements, being better than the current incumbent is a given!thebish wrote:so - not quite "anyone" then? turns out you're quite picky!!BWFC_Insane wrote: Just think there is a lot to management and while I'm sure Hierro is fantastic, not sure I'd want someone cutting their managerial teeth completely on us at this stage....

I suspect - diverting as it is - and boy do we need a diversion - it is all depressingly irrelevant as the shorted one will be emerging from the tunnel on saturday...

Re: owen out 2012/2013
It could be a managerial team comprising of Hierro, Djorkaeff, Okocha, Cruyff and Zidane, and ultimately they'd still be being parachuted in to coach the likes of Andrews, Pratley, Knight, Kevin Davies and Jay Spearing, in the Championship.
I'd love to see him back here, but on paper he's hardly an ideal fit for the players we have. At the very least he'd have to be brought in alongside someone with a bit of experience.
I think Walter Smith is a decent shout, although I'm not sure at 64 how up for managing us in the Championship he'd be.
Anyway, I think Gartside will play it safe and go for someone with a record of getting sides promoted from the Championship. I wonder how long it'll take Neil Warnock to fall out with Leeds...

I think gartside will leave it as it is for now - and things will improve for a while and we'll be having this conversation this time next year with Coyle still in place...

Re: owen out 2012/2013
Not just directed at you. Folk suggesting all manner of exes - from lawyers to boozehounds - on little justification bar erstwhile parochiality. As it happens, Hierro may be among the brightest ex-Wanderers but it would still be a massive risk unless he has a suitable, experienced assistant... And I've no idea who that might be.Bruce Rioja wrote:I thought I'd qualified him beyond merely being "An ex just for the sake of it". I've said this before - and I mostly mean it...
1. Hope Powell - yes, why not?
2. is it time to break the mould and tempt a yank across from the MLS? Sigi Schmid, Bruce Arena, Frank Yallop, Dominic Kinnear, and Steve Nicol all have experience and success...
There's a reason she hasn't got a job in men's football, and it isn't because she is a woman...
A girl on my level two course plays to a decent standard, and knows a couple of the England girls. She makes Mike Basset look advanced.
I'm all for thinking outside the box though...
I still really want Eddie Howe! You couldn't put a price on how amazing that would be.

Re: owen out 2012/2013
Still think Big Mick would bring the common sense approach we need!
Re: owen out 2012/2013
I really honestly truthfully would except Megson back and thats something coming from me! Coyle is a complete utter total arsehole and I really don't give a flying fook if he's a nice guy or not I want a manager who can mange a football team not a feckin' poncy pretender like Coyle, the guys stealing a comfortable living out of Eddie Davies who to be honest I wonder just how the feck he made millions when he lets an inept prick like Coyle run around managing his money. Oh and saggy faced fat phill should walk the plank or throw himself off a cliff too 3 strikes and your out fatso!

maybe - but i still can't quite put my finger on what it is about that man that just makes my skin want to flay itself off and throw itself into a huge vat of lemon juice...BWFC_Insane wrote:Still think Big Mick would bring the common sense approach we need!
are you thinking short term and then ditch him too - or do you think he could build the long-term premiership stability of the club?
Re: owen out 2012/2013
I'd have him over Coyle, I'd even dig up Cloughie or even take Red nose on part time if he fancied semi retirement, anyone!thebish wrote:maybe - but i still can't quite put my finger on what it is about that man that just makes my skin want to flay itself off and throw itself into a huge vat of lemon juice...BWFC_Insane wrote:Still think Big Mick would bring the common sense approach we need!

Re: owen out 2012/2013
We need someone to restore some structure and organisation and take us up. As a premiership side we may have attracted better, hence why I'd have pulled the trigger in November. However we are where we are.thebish wrote:maybe - but i still can't quite put my finger on what it is about that man that just makes my skin want to flay itself off and throw itself into a huge vat of lemon juice...BWFC_Insane wrote:Still think Big Mick would bring the common sense approach we need!

If Gartside sacks Coyle it's cos he thinks he won't take us up. Therefore that would be the immediate name.
Not sure long term exists really seeing as a young ambitious manager if we found one and he did well, he'd be poached by Liverpool or Villa etc anyway.......
