True but I remember thinking how relatively good felgate was when he arrived.He was trhe best we had during that dark post McDonagh period before Branagan arrivedBruce Rioja wrote:I remember Andy Dibble's debut (3-0 v West Brom) and my utter elation at seeing a keeper that was prepared to catch crosses out by the penalty spot. Keepers you say, Bobo? Kevin Rose, David Felgate, Simon Farnworth to throw a few more in.

True, but we were definitely deep into anyone but Farnworth territory at that point.Ianmooreslovechild wrote: True but I remember thinking how relatively good felgate was when he arrived.He was trhe best we had during that dark post McDonagh period before Branagan arrived

Yes ,not good.My last memory of Farnworth is him flapping about at wembley for some reason possibly because felgate wasnt allowed to play.Totally out of confidence.The sherpa van debacle v Bristol city.could be wrong of course.havent looked up the gory detailsBruce Rioja wrote:True, but we were definitely deep into anyone but Farnworth territory at that point.Ianmooreslovechild wrote: True but I remember thinking how relatively good felgate was when he arrived.He was trhe best we had during that dark post McDonagh period before Branagan arrived

Farnworth played without gloves; thing is he often also seemed to play without hands or eyes.

Still at least he found a career after football

Is a physio now (somewhere non-league, at the time anyway, maybe Fleetwood?). Did my refresher first aid last year.

Seeing the way that Dibble kept goal in that game was a bloody revelation after some of the shite that had gone before him..Bruce Rioja wrote:I remember Andy Dibble's debut (3-0 v West Brom) and my utter elation at seeing a keeper that was prepared to catch crosses out by the penalty spot. Re: Tyrone Mears
3 games in a Bolton shirt and someone thinks Mears is the worst player we've ever had?
He's shown some good promise going forward and his linking up with Lee will get better. If we just had a coach who could show him how to defend and pass a bit, he'd be reet.
Some folk dont know how lucky they were in missing;
Whitworth, Lydiate, Deakin, Keely, Berry & various duck eggs over the years
