He was a real star for us at the time in a struggling team. Mobile and good technique. Did he go to Leicester or reading or somewhere like that. Never repeated his form for that one good half season with us I dont think

Just checked,scored no goals for us in the prem but did well for half season in championship before going to Leaicester and turning into NGog.

John O'Kane proved to me that no matter that we'd left the dark days and lower divisions behind (perhaps just for a while! Scary thought) that we had an unerring habbit of picking up godawful fullbacks.Indeed, the epitome of shite. For any level. F*cking terrible player.

I also remember hoping beyond hope that Greg Strong might be any good. He was, of course, the opposite.

Among the very worst was Henry Mowbray. In fact, imho, any Wanderers crap eleven that doesn't include Henry as left back is already discredited.

Gunlauggson was awesome in Division One (the year we lost to Watford in the play-off final). Remember him absolutely destroying Huddersfield at the Reebok when they were challenging us up near the top and had a stormer when we beat the bucket shakers 4-0 at home. Less said the better about the game at Gigg, mind.

I am, however, in a sulk that no-one else understands the devestating lump of doody that was Dennis Peacock. Until we all accept thaat any other keeper is merely covering for Dennis while he's otherwise indisposed I'm not playing.

well .... it was like we'd turned up at the ground to find the keeper's mum had rung in to say he had to take her shopping & couldn't come out. So we asked if anyone had ever played in goal and the short fat lad who normally only carried the kit put his hand up & said he had. ...... only to find later that he'd lied.


Imagine the difference between Anelka and Sordell ..... & you may be 10% of the way.

He was in my 11. I'm surprised others havent remembered the likes of Entwistle(I'm sure we actually paid money for his 5 games) and Mike Bennett(he looked like the gay offspring of Midge Ure and Micky from Only Fools and Horses) If you're looking for a shit Butty 11 there's comedy gold amongst the regulars who appeared during our descent to division 4.

There WAS nothing wrong with it. A ball cut back from the by-line which he headed cleanly in & he was given off-side. The ref & linesman later agreed that it was an error as, of course, a pass backward cannot be an offiside. Two games from end of the season & we went down on goal difference.

Nothing that goaline technology would alter of course.

No idea who the ref. was. Wonder if turned out to be Knight, or Riley ??
