Have to say that out of all the criticism you can level at Owen Coyle, his match day dress sense is right at the back of the queue.
What next? Have a pop at him for preferring Irn Bru over 7-up?

Must admit i would rather he didnt dress like a scout leader but if he were a good manager or tactically astute then i wouldnt give a toss.

Unlike that ginger tosser previously, name calling is perfectly acceptable for him as he was a frigging wanker that couldn't wait to get a dig in on us at whatever press conference he was invited to.
I like Coyle as a person and I wish he was the right person for the job. I would love to see him be our manager for the next 10 years, like David Moyes or someone like that, but he is likely not cut out for the job. I don't think he's ever done anything to earn such a level of disrespect from the fans though. Not being a good manager doesn't make him a dick and attacking him because of his choice of clothes or whatever is ridiculous. I honestly think he loves the club and wants the best for it, including the fans, and I'm sure he's really disappointed that things aren't going our way. If he was sniping at us or anything like that, I wouldn't like him but he's a decent, respectable man and hasn't earned the vitriol that you read on here.
Even if Coyle doesn't help Bolton recover and he ends up leaving the club, I won't have a bad opinion towards him. He's been the perfect manager in every aspect apart from the results. A bad manager, maybe, but a bad person who deserves all these personal attacks? No.

I don't get this. I don't know Coyle personally, he's probably fine. But quite frankly do I care if the manager is a "nice guy"? NO. Its completely and utterly irrelevant.SmokinFrazier wrote:Yeah, I agree with you lads.Gail Platz wrote:This. Sam Allardyce described Bolton fans as "ignorant and naive" at an end of season do. Made it clear what he felt for the fans. Fine. Nobody cared because he achieved results.
Quite frankly, a manager who relegates us then starts the next season badly is going to be called some nasty names irrespective of who he is. Its why they get paid so much, and why, fans who struggle to cobble together the £27 quid plus extras to go to Hull and watch rubbish like that, will react in that way.
I have in the past called Alex Ferguson all the names under the sun. I think the bloke is an absolute cnut. But he's a very very very good manager. And I'd have him here in a heartbeat.
Doesn't matter WHO they are, but HOW GOOD THEY ARE!

I suspect you have missed the point. The point being made was that abuse is fine for managerial cock-ups and rubbishness...
but "personal" abuse - that's summat else...
chanting "you don't know what you're doing ...//... Coyle Out!!!" - fair enough - nail on head
but shouting "Coyle, f*ck off you f*cking cancerous c*nt" - that's summat else.
is there not even a tiny bit of potential for agreement here?

You can't say "calling Megson something was ok, but not Coyle...."
Simples.

I seen to remember that Coyle and AVB both gained there qualifications together, wonder who the teacher was as they both appear to adhere to the same principles. Of not having a clue.

Re: owen out 2012/2013
When you're judging him as a manager, you're right, it's not important. I have no issues with people calling Coyle a crap manager because that's their opinion and right now, the stats back it up. I just don't see why people have to resort to attacking his character. He's done nothing wrong, he's just not very good at his job right now. It shouldn't open him to attacks on his character.BWFC_Insane wrote:I don't get this. I don't know Coyle personally, he's probably fine. But quite frankly do I care if the manager is a "nice guy"? Coyle isn't a bad person just because he's not delivering on the pitch. Criticise him for our results but I'd prefer to see it stay like that, rather than our fans become as vitriolic and hateful as the Blackburn morons from last year with their vendetta against Kean.

Re: owen out 2012/2013
My point is that fans only care how good he is as a manager and rightly so. We don't actually know "whether he is a nice guy or not".
And as I've said before, the vitriol that was allowed for Megson has opened the floodgates up.
You can't have one rule for one and one for another.
ANYBODY who is Bolton manager wants to succeed and ergo wants the club to do well. They all try their best.
That is a given.
People are only discussing him in relation to his performance at Bolton Wanderers, as manager.
There is anger about the situation we are in, and ultimately that anger is justified.
And lets face it, Coyle will have been called all sorts of names and will know that goes with the territory in football. All our fans want is a proper manager and the "Coyle is a wanker" stuff is simply how football fans often express things.
Constructive? No. Right? No. BUT you can't have one rule for one and not another. You can't say "its ok to abuse opposition players, but not Coyle". Doesn't work like that!

Re: owen out 2012/2013
We have four points from four, so if we win all three of them we'd have 13 from seven, still not two per game. Obviously Coyle wouldn't be sacked after three wins on the bounce, but it shows how far off that 2ppg pace we are. In fact we're still bumbling along at 1ppg, which won't do anything except maybe keep you up (in whatever division).BWFC_Insane wrote:Bolton News today, interview with Gartside. * Not good enough so far.
* He is looking for a reaction.
* Target is 2 points a game (so to be on target we should have 8 ).
* Squad is good enough and underperforming.
* Feels sorry for fans.
Pretty stark stuff from Gartside. I think the 2 point a game target is revealing. The BN without saying so are also hinting that Coyle has 3 games (which happen to be in a week), Watford at home, Brum away and Sheff Wed away.
Just as you need to get more than 1.5ppg to qualify for Europe, you need to exceed it to hit the play-offs. Points achieved in last decade of second-tier seasons by 1st (champs), 2nd (auto-promoted), 6th (final play-off place) & 22nd (highest relegated) teams:
2012 89-88-75-40
2011 88-84-75-42
2010 102-91-70-47
2009 90-83-74-46
2008 81-79-70-52
2007 88-86-75-42
2006 106-90-75-42
2005 94-87-73-50
2004 94-86-73-51
2003 98-92-74-46
Over 46 games, 2ppg is 92pts, which would have made you champions five of the last six seasons. 1.5ppg is 69pts, which is two whole wins shy of the remarkably stable 75-point target for the bottom play-off rung. At the moment, sadly, it's more notable that the drop-line is quite changeable: our current 1ppg (46pts over a season) has got teams relegated six times in the last decade...

Re: owen out 2012/2013
Sounds about right but I cant see coyle getting more than 3 points from those games and that would be in the home lottery against watford. The defensive record under coyle is woeful which does make his statement about clean sheets a bit of a joke. We always look on the brink of conceding no matter what level of opposition we face.BWFC_Insane wrote:Bolton News today, interview with Gartside. Main points thusly....

They also ask the question whether there is any way back for Coyle now. I think the next three games are the most important he will ever have faced as a manager.
I did say I'd go up for the wednesday game with a wednesday fan from down here. Not sure if I want to at present. We'll get mullered and that's a hell of a long drive back with a cocka hoop owl whilst waiting for the resignation news on 5 live.

Fascinating stats those, especially the 75 points to nail 6th spot. 2008 was a strange year when leicester where relegated on 52 points!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:
