Slugs and snails. I suppose all this "wettest summer for a hundred years" is to blame, but kinell, there's a positive invasion of the bxstards.

Get yerself signed up to a VPN. Simple to use and great for when you're on public wifi networks. I of course also use mine to pretend I'm in the UK to gain access to iPlayer etc.

A good system they have here is that I get a text message for every transaction on both my account and credit card. Tells me I spent x amount, time and date at x shop. usually the text arrives within seconds. Also helps me know what the missus is spending :D That said, the banks are shockingly bad here in all other matters.
I have the University's vpn loaded on my laptop. When I log onto the internet through any server, it signs me on to a University server. Then it assigns a random IP from within the University's IP range and makes it appear that I am actually at the University (so I can use all the proprietary databases like the OED). Perhaps it is this that keeps me safe while traveling - I had never thought of that.
Chances are it helps. I'm assuming that being allowed to login to the VPN means your laptop meets reasonable security standards as well which will help. I'm sure our resident techies can tell you more than I can though.
True - but they talk like a1 writes so I won't ask. I'll just live in as fool's paradise till Visa calls to let me know I've had my identity stolen again.

It happened to me when I was in Paris. I've always thought but never had confirmed it was stolen through wifi used in hostels there while I was looking for a house, or off an internet site I used with my card. I was wary about using hostel wifi, but I had no choice.

Anyway my bank (Lloyds) were tip-top. The shit-houses had been siphoning off £5-10 per month in the hope that I wouldn't spot such small amounts going missing. Given I was effectively homeless abroad at the time they were right! Lloyds gave me back the money dating over a span of about four months within days. Also, they asked me if I wanted the police involved. My initial reaction was it was a water tester against fraud, somebody who hadn't in fact had their identity stolen being reluctant to 'involve' them? I don't know.

I was always fairly careful before, I know check bank statements religiously!

I take the dog out every night down to the cliff-path at about 11:30ish... some sections are dark... the last few nights the walk has been very crunchy underfoot...

Mrs. Clown decided to go all organic & natural with her slug & snail control measures this year.

Massively regretted by about June when the garden plants were being eaten at a rate of knots. To be followed by action against them which can only be described as 'shock & awe'.

That ramped up somewhat a month ago when we saw one on the doorstep which was so large it could have been mistaken for the milk-man. Truly, it looked like Jabba-the-Hutt.

Small Asian states have now been overtaken in pesticide use. Orders for next year are being planned and, fair warning to you all, our order levels will probably affect market pice and general availability.

:D that's anger!!

I mean - in her original "organic" approach...

my neighbour swore by them - you just water the little things over your garden one day - and they bugger off and multiply and exterminate all your slugs and snails... and no poisonous chemicals to decimate the songbird population!

the only other simple option is to concrete over the whole garden and then keep a 2mill layer of salt and sharp sand over the whole area... that sorts them out...

Plant chervil round the edge of your garden. Lots of it. Really, seriously.

It's a big garden !!

Good to hear though, we have a small amount already & I'll give it a go in the badly affected areas. Can it withstand blowtorches ?

Java. And its constant need to popup a little alert in the bottom corner telling me it wants to be updated.

I turned off the auto updater yesterday. It had magically turned itself back on again this morning.

Angry? I'm fooking shaking with lividness. If that's even a word.

I get this with Adobe. On a weekly basis I get offered an upgrade to a version I already have. I say "no" yet it returns.Last week I thought "oh, go on" & said "yes" ..... it told me I already have it ! I KNOW !!!!!!!!

It returned later to ask yet again.

Anyone want to borrow a blow-torch ??
