What are you playing tonight?

Re: What are you playing tonight?
Just downloaded 'Dermot O'Leary presents 2011' from his saturday sessions.
Civil Wars, Billie Jean
Moby, Natural Blues
Foster the People, Pumped up Kicks
and surprisingly, Robbie Williams, You Know Me & Will Young, Running up that hill are excellent.
Worth a punt if you like a bit of accoustic stuff. Some good stuff on it, but one or two duffers as well.
Oops, I forgot the great Dell Shannon's Runaway, done by Kasabian

Downloaded it yesterday & skimmed through it. It appears to be very well produced. Playing / singing 'within himself' to very good affect.William the White wrote:Tempest/i] released on Monday. From what I've heard so far... I need to clear an hour of interruption...

Not quite up to his 2009 'Together Through You" but very well worth the price. (Track 3 'Narrow Way' seems like he's a fan of Seasick Steve !!)
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

We were at Car Fest North over the weekend. Got to say it was very well done. The Proclaimers were great, Paloma Faith was amazing live but for me the best of the weekend were Simon Fowler's (Ocean Colour Scene) Merrymouth. Great song writing.........and I've never really liked folk music!

Just fecking about trying to play Noel Gallagher's Everybody's on the Run. Capo on the third. According to Ult Git it then needs an A9. Doesn't sound like it to me?

Re: What are you playing tonight?
That's frustrating me. Both the song and the singer remind me of something else and I can't bring to mind what? More I think about it, further away it goes.Bijou Bob wrote:We were at Car Fest North over the weekend. Got to say it was very well done. Re: What are you playing tonight?
Chill music today. Sort I (probably wrongly) relate to madrigal music. Always been fascinated by minor chord numbers and folky alternative tunings on guitars. (Takes me all my time to tune mine to standard, but Bruce or somebody will know what I mean). Anyways, today's stuff: Enigma's Sadenes I-II-III, Scarborough Fair, Cat Steven's Katmandu/Lady d'Arbanville (again), J t'aime, Nights in White Satin, Forever Autumn, to name a few.

My favourite song to play in Open C (CACGCE) tuning is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQKQ3-bzXV8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;TANGODANCER wrote:Chill music today. Buckets of Rain is another fun one to play, in Open E...I think.

My night with Bob and Tempest went reasonably well... Look forward to being able to concentrate properly on the honey-voiced genius tomorrow when my wife is absent in the sarf...

It's very rare that I'm tempted to buy a new release, but it seems this might be one of those cases.William the White wrote:yeah...Beefheart wrote:My favourite song to play in Open C (CACGCE) tuning is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQKQ3-bzXV8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;TANGODANCER wrote:Chill music today. Edit: Listening to it now. Christ, haven't listened to any of his recent stuff (The Travelling Wilburys probably the most recent thing of his that I own), I thought his voice was pretty gruff back then, has he been smoking 40 a day since then?

Duran Duran & 'good stuff' don't usually fit into into the same sentence with me Harry; but I have some accoustic versions of 'Ordinary World', 'The Chauffer' and 'Come Undone'. All terrific.

Aye, I know they're not cool and trendy to proper musos but they've been around for as long as they have for a reason. Ordinary world is one of thier finest tracks ever - must search out that acoustic versionIl Pirate wrote:Harry Genshaw wrote:Duran Duran - Astronaut. Good stuff

I was in a mellow mood the other afternoon so I trawled my CD collection (not large) for something suitable. Do you remember Enya? I've a couple of her albums, which I haven't played for yonks, and bunged 'em on. They fitted the bill to perfection.

Orinoco Flow and all that. Maire (sp?) Brennan's sister from the family band Clannad. Went single and made some decent stuff. Haven't heard of her in a while.Dujon wrote:I was in a mellow mood the other afternoon so I trawled my CD collection (not large) for something suitable. Do you remember Enya? Re: What are you playing tonight?
The voice has been increasingly gefukt since then, that long, long time ago... The genius remains, flawed as ever, and ever more tenuous, but persistently poking its head above the parapet on a couple of tracks each release... I buy for those... And poke around the rest...Beefheart wrote:It's very rare that I'm tempted to buy a new release, but it seems this might be one of those cases.William the White wrote:yeah...Beefheart wrote:My favourite song to play in Open C (CACGCE) tuning is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQKQ3-bzXV8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;TANGODANCER wrote:Chill music today.
