It is nowt great, but it would be preferable to Eastenders!Annoyed Grunt wrote:In two minds wether to watch it or not....the first was ok, just.jimbo wrote:Started watching the second Hangover last night. Fell asleep at about 10pm halfway through it. Raised the odd smile but not much else. Wondering whether to give it another go later in the week whhen I'm feeling a bit fresher and haven't just come off a week of nights.

Saw the new Dredd movie. (Unfortunately in 3D.)
Didn't go in optimistic but was pleasantly surprised. Solid actioner and fairly faithful to the 2000AD comics. I had a few issues but they were just minor things that people who hadn't read the original stuff wouldn't notice. They got a lot right and there's a nice bit of subversiveness in the portrayl of the drugs. Of course they kept the comics' ultraviolence, which was present and correct.
The only real problem was they didn't have the satire of the dystopian facist police state* but hey-ho, can't have everything.
Well worth a gander, in 2D.
*Unpalatable to the US audiences, who wouldn't want to watch a future version of their society portrayed in this manner.

and theyve just watched the hunger games film in their millions, too.
Re: What are you watching tonight?
It is conjecture based on some of the studio decisions made during post-production.
They definitely softened it a bit to make it more palatable and since the UK audiences are already familiar with the source material you have to say the changes made were for the 'larger' audience.
Why they altered it though, you're right, it is certainly debatable. My best guess is that since it has an R-Rating they didn't want to have too much to put the average state-side cinema-goer off. I'm not having a go, it's just that ideological factors do come into play.

This IS the time for someone to say they know someone called Abby Downton !!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Best bit of television I've seen in bloody ages.
Then they ruined the rest of it by having people on that were good singers.
