Re: Does Coyle do This
If he rediscovers his form then its probably for the reasons outlined in that article. Must be fecking demoralising working under Coyle.

Re: Does Coyle do This
It was gutting to see all the ex-Wanderers playing yesterday, all back on form, players that some on here vilified, players that we, in general, let go for an absolute pittance.
To clarify, I have no problem with Bogdan. I believe he's a good keeper, and he's got plenty of time to improve. I don't think he was the difference between us staying up or going down. But think how much better he could be if he was still working alongside the goalkeeping coach that made Jussi great. Or still working alongside Jaaskelainen himself, as genuine competition.
How about Joey O'Brien? Yes, he was always injured here, but IIRC, he was just coming back when we released him. He was never a show-stopper, but he was a solid right back. And now it transpires that he can play left back as well. How much better would we be with him instead of Mears?
Matt Taylor? Probably the man we miss least with our current abundance of players who can play wide midfield. But as a man who can play as a centre midfielder as well, how much did we miss him last season, when our midfield was decimated?
Kevin Nolan is, however, probably the man we miss most. I never thought we should have let him go. A proper general in the centre of the park, able to push forward and get 10 goals at least a season, and he's been a bona fide crucial first teamer (and captain) at both Newcastle and West Ham since leaving us. Given our blindingly obvious weaknesses in centre midfield last season, how much difference would a player like Nolan have made?

Should be stuck on the walls everywhere at Chorley and the 'bok' !!!'Every time you don't concede a goal you know you have got a point at least.
'The good thing from our point of view, is that when the front players know that one goal is going to win us a game and it's three points because defensively we are so sound.
'It is critical to the success of the side because the confidence throughout the team grows.
'Strikers know if they miss one it is not going to bother us too much if we continue to defend like we do, because the next one they get - if they score - can actually win us the game.

Disagree with this.truewhite15 wrote:Matt Taylor? Probably the man we miss least with our current abundance of players who can play wide midfield
Taylor was a work-horse who would always put a shift in. Also chipped in with a decent amount of important goals each season.
We were crying out for someone like him last season.

I'll go along with that. Then again, we always appreciate them more after selling them.Loyal White wrote:Disagree with this.truewhite15 wrote:Matt Taylor? Probably the man we miss least with our current abundance of players who can play wide midfield

Yep good delivery from set pieces, supported his fullback.Biggest fault was he looked a bit slow at times. Would have done a job in centre mid for sure. When you look at what sam gets out of his players, the organisation and planning that goes on ,the way he comes across with the press it does make you feel a bit sad.Loyal White wrote:Disagree with this.truewhite15 wrote:Matt Taylor? Re: Does Coyle do This
I've said for a while that our keepers form has been proportional to Barbers influence on them.
Jussi started struggling more and more as Barber was relieved of more and more coaching duties.
Mind I'm sure Phil Hughes has an impressive record and has trained and scouted some top keepers just like Barber.....oh.....

well - in his last season with he chipped in with 2 goals in 42 appearances...Loyal White wrote:Disagree with this.truewhite15 wrote:Matt Taylor? Probably the man we miss least with our current abundance of players who can play wide midfield

Re: Does Coyle do This
Matt Taylor got dog's abuse from the Bolton fans and was vilified by most people on this website. And now people are saying they wish we'd kept him? FFS.
Re: Does Coyle do This
I may be wrong - but I remember a more even split on the question of him leaving...Sponge wrote:Matt Taylor got dog's abuse from the Bolton fans and was vilified by most people on this website. And now people are saying they wish we'd kept him? FFS.
also - did he not have an long-term-unrevealed wasting illness that made him exhausted all the time and made him appear (err..) a bit shit?

Re: Does Coyle do This
none of that really looks like a dog's abuse - and all comes across as reasonably even-handed to me...BWFC_Insane wrote:viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22283&hilit=Taylor" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;thebish wrote:I may be wrong - but I remember a more even split on the question of him leaving...Sponge wrote:Matt Taylor got dog's abuse from the Bolton fans and was vilified by most people on this website. Re: Does Coyle do This
Keep it simple, Sam the man who can is getting what Taylor CAN deliver is, I do not think we ever saw it here! At Bolton he were never that good.
Re: Does Coyle do This
it also probably helps that he doesn't have glandular fever anymore... (the glandular fever that Coyle gave him)Hoboh wrote:Keep it simple, Sam the man who can is getting what Taylor CAN deliver is, I do not think we ever saw it here! At Bolton he were never that good.
