Went down with Hull went to preston and went down with them I think. Decent enough pundit on 5 live

Preston were practically dead when he went to them.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Went down with Hull went to preston and went down with them I think. Decent enough pundit on 5 live

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
He was unlucky not to get the job when he did a grand job as caretaker. Good job at Hull overall and unfairly dismissed by Ridsdale at PNE. Agree re: the centre circle incident but I still think theres a decent manager there. He'd at least keep us up!Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Why? I like the fella and yes I know he got Hull up but has he done anything since he sat in the centre circle and made a fool of himself?Harry Genshaw wrote:As said, Wilkins hasn't been a manager in years and has previously stated he doesn't fancy managing outside the top tier as he never played at that level and doesn't think he'd understand players of that ilk (Good job Jose Mourinho never felt the same)
Right now though I'd snatch your arm off for Phil Brown

Maybe,he's had a patchy career so far. Very hard to judge if you're not directly following the clubs he's been with. Him not being coyle is as dibble says a plus.Harry Genshaw wrote:He was unlucky not to get the job when he did a grand job as caretaker. Well thats a start.officer_dibble wrote:Why? cos he's not coyle
We're not going to attract anyone already managing in the Championship (Holloway, Jackett, Poyet) so someone on the dole is more likely - I'd prefer Billy Davies but I'd take Brown anyday.
It's all irrelevant mind. If Coyle ever does go we're going to end up with whoever else shares an agent with Gartside.

Brown could do a better job than Coyle, well anybody could really.

No, they beat us at Upton Park late on that season to all but condemn us to relegation. I can still remember the hollow feeling when our last-minute goalmouth scramble was cleared away in front of us.plymouth wanderer wrote:Was that the last time they beat usDave Sutton's barnet wrote:Bolton 0-3 West Ham, and Burnden's patience with McFarland (and Todd) snapped. Very true but why would he switch to us.He's southern based and highly regarded where he is.I suspect he will take Brigton as far as he can and is only likely to move upwards not sideways or more accurately diagonal.Worthy4England wrote:Gus Poyet still seems to be doing a decent job....
I think you have to look at the doleys, lower leagues or abroad

The article is from Jan 2012 and he's moaning about wage structures so how would that suggest he would come to bolton?Tombwfc wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16532389" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Very true but why would he switch to us.He's southern based and highly regarded where he is.I suspect he will take Brigton as far as he can and is only likely to move upwards not sideways or more accurately diagonal.Worthy4England wrote:Gus Poyet still seems to be doing a decent job....

Actually the photo of coyle after the brum game(Daily Mail) made me sad. He knows it's gone wrong. It would be better for everyone if they moved on now. There's no need for unnecessary suffering.

Correct, it did look like it's finally dawned on him that it's gone.Ianmooreslovechild wrote: the photo of coyle after the brum game(Daily Mail) made me sad. He knows it's gone wrong. It would be better for everyone if they moved on now. There's no need for unnecessary suffering.
He's also back to saying "if someone decides that the game us up that's their right & I will deal with it" stuff.
Just go Owen, while you still have a tad of dignity & we have a faint chance of turning it round.
The fans don't believe in you, the players don't & it even looks like you don't.
Go, for God's sake. Go.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I really didn't want it to end like this
I'd still have Coyle over Brown
Wonder if Neil McDonald and Sammy Lee could work together

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
Because our wage budget will be (I'd guess) around about double what he's working with at Brighton. That and he'd have a squad that has just been relegated from the Premier League, plus continued parachute payments. Our fourth choice striker would be Brighton's most expensive ever signing.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:The article is from Jan 2012 and he's moaning about wage structures so how would that suggest he would come to bolton?Tombwfc wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16532389" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Very true but why would he switch to us.He's southern based and highly regarded where he is.I suspect he will take Brigton as far as he can and is only likely to move upwards not sideways or more accurately diagonal.Worthy4England wrote:Gus Poyet still seems to be doing a decent job....

I don't know for sure if he'd take it, but I see no reason why he wouldn't seriously consider it. We are a richer, more recently successful club with a better chance of short-term success.

Not sure he would come to us, although I still think he'd have a higher overall wage budget and probably a higher transfer budget, whilst we have some parachute.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:The article is from Jan 2012 and he's moaning about wage structures so how would that suggest he would come to bolton?Tombwfc wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16532389" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Very true but why would he switch to us.He's southern based and highly regarded where he is.I suspect he will take Brigton as far as he can and is only likely to move upwards not sideways or more accurately diagonal.Worthy4England wrote:Gus Poyet still seems to be doing a decent job....

That aside, they seem to be filling the stadium and have been progressing upwards since Poyet arrived...so I suspect he might be thinking first lower half Prem team, he'd be in with a shout...

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
Strange though isnt it. Very different to Negson. Coyle is a likeable honest fella who is way out of his depth. I know we take the piss but it's hard to dislike coyle and no pleasure to see him looking grey. The only thing he ever really had was his optimism and thats now been sucked out of him. It would be a kindness to call his number in now. Maybe he can reappear somewhere as a coach with youngsters or even at a higher level. I just dont think he has the nouse to be a manager.bobo the clown wrote:Correct, it did look like it's finally dawned on him that it's gone.Ianmooreslovechild wrote: the photo of coyle after the brum game(Daily Mail) made me sad. Re: If Coyle gets the sack
But we are going backwards and are up north. Could be wrong but I suspect like worthy says he'll be happy continuing to develop his reputation before moving on to a job in the prem. Ultimately spurs and chelsea are the kind of places he will be looking at. I'm not sure coming to bolton would feel like a step in that directionTombwfc wrote:Because our wage budget will be (I'd guess) around about double what he's working with at Brighton.
