Re: are you worried
Eh? Would it be easier if there were six clear points between each position?Whookam wrote:A tight league is a bad thing too, it means it's very hard to gain ground on the teams around us.
A close division isn't necessarily a poor division. I'd rather watch a competition that isn't as clearly, obviously, predictably delineated as the one above. The general standard in this division is obviously lower but genuine competition isn't a sign of that.
Re: are you worried
urh stop it that would be awfull. coyle out nooooow. levein out coyle in. coyle for scotland. etc etcTombwfc wrote:Aside from the fact that 3rd position would represent failure, it's early in the season. We would have to have been spectacularly bad to have lost touch already.SmokinFrazier wrote:Right now, we're only three points away from 3rd position in the league. It really is very tight, and there's no need for panic.
And that's what worries me more than anything. The increasingly likely scenario whereby we're never terrible enough to cost the manager his job, but never consistent enough to finish in the top two.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.
Re: are you worried
i dont think there is any need for panic yet....apart from brighton and blackpool nobody has been very consistent. i think we will go up but not because of coyle but more the players getting us there. can we stay up..no chance...if you can't keep a clean sheet in this league and your strikers bang a few in you're going to struggle. who knows...things may change

Re: are you worried
I am fairly certain if Coyle does get us up he would be gone if we had a poor start to the season.Midnite wrote:i dont think there is any need for panic yet....apart from brighton and blackpool nobody has been very consistent. i think we will go up but not because of coyle but more the players getting us there. can we stay up..no chance...if you can't keep a clean sheet in this league and your strikers bang a few in you're going to struggle. who knows...things may change
Once PG gets his greasy mits on almost double the amount of prem money we use to get he won't want to let it go.

Lose: Because of Coyle.
Win: In spite of Coyle..
Getting tiresome this. Can we not just admit, that on Saturday, he turned it around with a neccessary change and give him at least *some* credit for that..

Yeah, he deserves credit for trying a new formation and getting it to work. Considering this could have been his last game if he'd lost, it would have been easy to go with a typical 4-4-2 and play it safe but instead, he allowed Eagles to have a free role and chose not to have width in the team, dropping one of our best players in Chungy. That deserves plenty of credit.boltonboris wrote:Lose: Because of Coyle.

There are still tweaks to be made but it's overly harsh on Coyle to put success down to fluke or in spite of him. If we criticize him 100% when he fails, we should give him 100% credit when we win. It's too biased to pin losses on him and not give him credit when we play well.

Or just wait and see whether we now consistently perform at the level we should be, and haven't for 18 months now.boltonboris wrote:Lose: Because of Coyle.

Pretty much the only measure this season is promotion. As everyone in the club has said. We have to be achieving that and until we look like doing so, I don't think one result here or there will change opinion......
Re: are you worried
so after one game you have decided coyle is no longer the t**t that did something that neither megson or lee could do (relegate us) and has heroicly got us to the top halve of the table while other relegated teams like blackburn ( who were easily the biggest joke of a football club i have seen in the premiership in the last 11 years) sit in the top 6. i think the only way he can win games is by being on the verge of a sacking just you watch when the inevitable collpse (and unbeaten home record) comes in the next 2 games. bolton boris your logic on this subject has left me completly baffledboltonboris wrote:Lose: Because of Coyle.

I'm impressed with the half time routine - problem (finally) noted and solution found.

Watching Blackpool shows how open the league is. They look terrible despite being the form club. If we were playing them tonight, we'd beat them.

"What is it with AVB and 4-4-2. He played Bale at LB for crying out loud. He follows it dogmatically. When we changed to 4-5-1 in the second half we were much the better team." Paraphrased, but you get the gist.
Now I didn't see that game, but it sounds startlingly familiar to someone else we know who was on the same blinking training course.

The thing about Credit and (Debit), is you accumulate them over time. Happy to give him Credit for Saturday - but he's still way overdrawn...

Re: are you worried
Unbeaten at home and just won away so part of me thinks we could be about to turn it around. sheffield wednesday was a good performance, ngog looked dangerous (besides the obvious miss), alonso although not spectacular at the back played very well in a wing back style position and mark davies showed the flair that had some of the bigger teams considering him last season. we have a really really strong squad with warnock now, maybe this competition for places will wipe out some of the player's complacency?

Depends if we continue to be, as someone noted last week, the club that uses the fewest players in the entire division.Jez wrote:maybe this competition for places will wipe out some of the player's complacency?
