Under 18s

Post by Jez » Thu Sep 13, 2012 2:07 pm

So despite the lackluster start for the first team the under 18s sit at the top of group 1 of the premier academy league, unbeaten with results such as a 5-1 thrashing of arsenal.

One of the kids certainly knows how to find the back of the net and was nominated for goal of the month with this strike

so maybe we're in for a huge influx of incredible talent that will show the current bunch up :conf:

Saw the thread title, thought maybe Klasnic was boasting again..

- In answer to the main question....we have a talented squad as it is, and more talent coming through would be great, so i guess the answer lies more in the f*ckwits coaching & managing them.

Wouldn't it be great to have a Premier League forward come through the club ranks.Have we had one since Franny Lee?

Neil Whatmore was good but not really top division standard.

The reserves, basically. They play in the U21 Premier League and have to have a percentage of young 'uns in there. It's intended to make the "reserves" the final step in the Elite Player Performance Plan, the new youth-development thing I've banged on about before (I believe it to be A Bad Thing).

Taken 10 points from a possible 12. Is David Lee on his coaching badges? He did do wonders with the Legends side for the tournaments

Wizard's a bit strong but he was one of the stand-out players in the team that got us promoted in 1993... ask Mike Marsh! :D

'David Lee run down the wing' one of my favourite chants. Don't make 'em like they used too

Harry Basset called David Lee perfectly. "He's either the best player on the pitch or he's a waste of a shirt". Nine games in ten he was the latter!

DSB is correct - Lee was vital in that promotion season and frequently a stand-out in the multiple cup games where we stuffed our 'betters' with great regularity. Liverpool away in the great turning point of the 1990's when he ran the game being one example. A brilliant solo goal to beat Norwich of the top div another.

He got slower as he got older, but he, Walker and McGinlay were the key to our transformation under Rioch and Todd.

I was joking Willy, Lee and the majority of players we had between 92-95 all bring back such fond memories
