I would go with the pea purée or the minted pea purée.boltonboris wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:Oooooh, what an excellent call, Sir.Little Green Man wrote:Pureed peas.Pea puree.Bruce Rioja wrote:I have black pudding from Bury Market that I bought on Saturday. Going to have one tomorrow with panceta and probably some scallops. Could probably do with some sort of a sauce to go with it..... ahem.... LK?
Minted pea purée
Another option, though not for you Bruce if I remember rightly, would be an apple purée.......

Cheddar cheese .... & Caerphilly !!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Decided to make a butter bean and mung bean mash tonight, by simple dint of me having them in. Don't bother - it dries out. Awful business. Worse than Bobo's breath after he's been to the cheese stand!

I've had butter bean mash before, nice stuff IMO. However, you can't "mash it all the way" more like just crush it.Bruce Rioja wrote:Decided to make a butter bean and mung bean mash tonight, by simple dint of me having them in. And add olive oil, lemon juice/zest, and a little stock/water to stop it being too dry.

Good call. The stuff that was left in the pan was cement-like when I came to fling it out. Will know for next time, and yes, I think I probably had over-mashed it rather than having simply crushed it.BWFC_Insane wrote: I've had butter bean mash before, nice stuff IMO. If you'vr got a hand blender Bruce, just add stock on a low heat whilst blitzing to the right consistency. You might even want to pass it through a sieve afterwards to get the shells out. It'll work.Bruce Rioja wrote:Decided to make a butter bean and mung bean mash tonight, by simple dint of me having them in. Don't bother - it dries out. Awful business. You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Cheers LK. Will do. I just used the spud masher and a knob of butter. It's a mission now to make perfect butter bean mash!

To save yourself some hassle, you might want to over wet it, then once blitz reduce it down a little. Beware, it will spit, and its like napalm when it does.

Tonight will be sea bream from the fish market.
I also bought monkfish for a paella and octopus, chicken and goat's cheese for tomorrow's Spanish feast. Tapas party to celebrate retirement.
Market was really quiet, but looking great. The prices on the fish market were amazingly low... Three seabass a fiver, eight quid for a salmon - unbelievable...

Aye, you can pop in any evening as far as I'm aware, might be worth booking ahead mind. Even on a midweek night it was busy with residents and non residents alike.boltonboris wrote:Does look good, that.. I'm in the lakes for a wedding next weekend. Do they do that on a Sunday?

Picked up a jar of honey with my eggs from the farm up the way whilst on my way home. Couldn't resist a small spoonful just to try it when I got home. Oh my!thebish wrote:PLUS locally made honey!
