Noooo.

Invite them again & (if they turn up) belittle them & have them believe they & their ilk are responsible for all the World's woes and they deserve the uncertainties which haunt them.

It is .... I've done it for decades.

I find looking around, paying them limited attention, getting their names wrong .... & saying "yeah, whatever" when they correct you works a treat !!

Not angry, just a bit gutted.

Bruno, one of our cats has been diagnosed with the big C. They said they can operate, but with this type of cancer, it's unlikely it'll make any difference. Even if it does, there's over a 90% chance of a recurrance withing 12 months..

He seems fine at the moment, but I imagine he'll start to deteriorate pretty quickly

Sympathies, BB. One of ours got cat flu (which didn't sound serious) but the vet said he was a goner and would only pass it to the others (we had three at the time), so the poor bugger had to be put down. Took a while to get over it.

My cat had to be put down 2 years ago, she was 19 years old and we'd had her from a Kitten. She started going wonky in the back legs and we thought she was arthritic. Then she started having fits. The vet diagnosed a bain tumour.

We took her home, gave her every attention and a supper of Salmon (her favourite) then I took her back the next day to be put down.

Feel your pain BB but it was for the best.

We had a 19 year old. As fat as Hodori's cat, but only because the bloody vet butchered her when she was spayed. Eventually, aged 17 she got diabetes, no doubt because of her immense obesity, and we had to inject after that daily with insulin.
Strangely enough she then slimmed right down and had the best two years of her life.
I don't believe in 'spiritual' bollocks, but I knew moments before she died that something was up, and I awoke and went downstairs to find her dying. I put a bit of honey on her tongue thinking it might help her diabetes, but she died in front of me. I've always been grateful I didn't have to make the choice of having to take her to the vet. That really would have been too painful. So sympathies. Deep sympathies. :(

Feel your pain Boris. My dog has just been diagnosed with a tumour on his jawbone. I took him to the specialist hospital in Liverpool yesterday to be told the tumour couldn't be cut out and his only hope is radiotherapy. This was not a route I wanted to take him down, due to the invasive nature and side effects but dont feel I can just leave it to get worse. He's 10 years old. Just cant decide what to do for the best

Of what?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
