Where are you going tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Haha, if only. I don't think my liver could take the abuse. Had a nice afternoon though, mellowed on four pints of Yella-Belly...

A plethora of songs I've not heard in ages:

"The trainer of insects is crouched on his knees
And frantically looking for runaway fleas"

"Hoo. Ha. Hooo. Ha.
That's the sound of the men working on the chain ga.e.ang
That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang"

"And it burns,burns,burns
the ring of fire
the ring of fire."
The first would not be a favourite with Bobo. The last being Johnny Cash's anthem for hemorrhoid sufferers. Still, with four pints, I guess one could sing along.
"If you cannot answer a man's argument, all it not lost; you can still call him vile names. " Elbert Hubbard.

Great company, nice place for a group meal and the food was standard Italian and better than ok.

Drinks prices were a tad horrific. Overall, Nice but won't rush to return.

Tonight was the Octagon for Bill Naughton's long-neglected play Lighthearted Intercourse.

It's a play about sex and love (yes - that old story) set in !920s/30s Bolton. It has Naughton's usually sensitivity to northern working class life and has some stirring and moving speeches and set pieces and a good number of laughs.

It is minor Naughton, though. Recommended unreservedly for the acting - which is excellent.

The lad looked a little nervy when I went on Friday, Will, but he'll have a few performances under his belt now. The girl was excellent. Not Naughton's strongest work but like you say - some quite moving and stirring stuff with no shortage of good laughs. Definitely worthwhile.

To the Cornerhouse, for a German movie, subtitled, called Barbara.

It was very good. 1980, in East Germany, communist state in terminal decay, and a female doctor wants to escape to the West. But she has patients who need her, and, especially, a teenage girl whose life she has saved, who is a prisoner at a vicious prison camp.

The doctor is a known dissident and the Stasi are on her case, with vicious harassment, house and body searches. She has a boyfriend in the west. but is falling in love with a male doctor, who is informing on people as a Stasi agent.

Not as powerful as The Lives of Others or as sharp as Goodbye Lenin it nevertheless packs a real punch, and has a powerful and moving climax. Not sure how long it's running in Manchester.

But i can't recommend Cornerhouse enough for those who know that cinema doesn't begin and end with Hollywood and the occasional British flick.

You won't regret it. It's fab.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Far better live than on tv. Was at the show where he got into trouble with the joke about soldiers and the Paralympics.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

It'll be the third time I've seen him, Grunto. And yes, you're absolutely correct. I'm expecting a fair bit of Jimmy Savile related stuff too :D
