Darren Pratley

Post by Mar » Sat Oct 06, 2012 4:06 pm

He was good enough for the Premiership but he's not good enough for the Championship?

How we haven't seen him make an appearance this season after being one of Swansea's stand out performers in their promotion push is seemingly baffling. Forget Sordell, we know he's been out of favour since he was signed and when he has been given an opportunity he hasn't taken it, but we've signed Pratley last season thinking he would be good for the team yet he's not even getting a sniff.

I figured Pratley was signed for cover and would be beneficial should we get relegated and now we have i'm really surprised to see him not making the team. Has their been a falling out between Coyle and Pratley? The tail end of last season (when he was supposedly ill) sticks particularly in my mind especially when Reo-Coker was struggling.

I thought we'd discovered he was shit last year?

If so, you can hardly blame Coyle for not picking hi,.

Pratley's level is around the Championship level. He was apparently great for Swansea and they wanted to keep him yet we poached him.

Now we're at his level we're not seeing him feature?

I honestly don't think there is anything between him and Andrews talentwise.

Well yes, perhaps we can start a new thread on that.

That was the belief, but Swansea didn't play him for the fibal 1/3 of thaeir promotion season & certainly didn't miss him when he left.

But I take your point .... I just don't think he's any fckg good ... at any level.

He seems to be an athlete turned footballer. Might be useful box to box but not sure on his level.

I saw him at Swansea in the Championship and he was extremely poor for them, so it's no surprise he's poor for us in this division as well.

Just accept he is a bad, bad footballer that will never do anything good for us.

I'm sure I heard Marc Iles on Radio Manchetser yesterday say when Pratley came on as a sub "My mum said you must only say good things about someone so I'll just say Pratley is coming on"!!!!! I take it he doesn't rate him either.
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

Pratley gets on purely on the basis that he might score. He rarely does and I cant see what else he has to offer beyond being fit enough to be around the ball. He cant really tackle and his passing is limited. He is a complete nowhere man in terms of his value to the team. He isnt competive enough to play centre mid and isnt creative enough to play behind the striker although this is probably his most useful/least harmful position.he reminds me of david Platt minus 90% of his allround game and his finishing ability. What they do have in common is the ability to pop up unnoticed in a scoring position and a similar level of fitness.

So, a sort of fit version of Kevin Nolan while off his game then.

mmmm ?!?!

Exactly but also without the benefit of Nolans physical presence whereby running past him involved a more circuitous route and held up play that little bit longer oh and without the occasional genius improvisation and finishing ability.
