out of interest, who are the other eight? then the position is clear!Prufrock wrote:It's a weird one when people say 'anyone but Coyle'. Weird pedants start asking if we'd rather have the Marquis de Sade's rotting corpse. Of course not. We actually mean almost any other football manger on the planet. Excluding roughly 9. Oddly, Roy Keane is one of the nine. I'd genuinely rather stick with that sieve-headed wazzock.

I don't even know why I'm posting in this thread anyway as it's obvious the story is bollocks.

Right now you have your sensible head on I think he will go for the cheapest option he feels he can get away with IMHO because I think Gartside is a clueless chump who got lucky with Sambwfcdan94 wrote:ok sorry. i do fear though that PG will pick somebody that A. the majority of the fans do not want and B. is not well knownHoboh wrote:dan this is serious not a fecking jokebwfcdan94 wrote:we will get Boothroyd as PG will pick someone that only one fan wants I.E me.Hoboh wrote:Hang on be carefull we are talking a man who always wanted Gary Megson in Gartside! Re: NEVER!!!!!
Hello lads,
First post which could make me unpopular but I've been thinking about Keane as a replacement for the weeks building up to the farce currently going on at the club.
The rumour was probably bollocks as a previous poster said but let's speculate as it is more fun than the grim reality that Coyle might get another few games in charge.
I'm in favour of Keane.
Ruling him out because of the man u u link is nonsense, small time and, as bad as things are, we're not Bury yet.
He had a nightmare at Ipswich but that club seems unmanageable and they've struggled after he was replaced. It's a problem club.
I think he struggled in the premier league with Sunderland as, frankly, the players are sh*t scared of him and, in that league, you can't be afraid of having a shot or trying an intricate pass so it just didn't work. In the championship, you don't need that, working hard, dominating possession and bullying teams should be enough and I think Keane would bring that. He turned Sunderland around as a championship club and from memory they were in a similar position to us in the lower half of the championship when he took over.

Re: NEVER!!!!!
To avoid any confusion I shall make my position on Keane clear:
He is a wanker.
He is a wanker.
They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.
Poor man last, rich man first.
Poor man last, rich man first.

I have heard him compared to Bryan Robson who built a team of ale cans at Middlesborough

I'd doubt it, Fella. Fergie got shot of all the Man U piss-pots early on, didn't he? McGrath, Whiteside and so on. And as a manager I'd say that Keane takes his lead from him, not Robson.jaffka wrote:just enquiring if anyone knows anything about himBruce Rioja wrote:Dunno.jaffka wrote:is keane a p*ss pot?

Put it like this, if Keane did take over at our place I'd bet you my bottom dollar that I'd be able to find you a free ping-pong table within a day!

Keane, by all accounts, was indeed a piss-can. According to people who take a far greater interest in these things than I.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

It was a good few years ago, but i once had an evening at the same table as Bryan Robson and Steve Bruce. It's fair to say that they both faced the beer challenge with confidence and commitment. It was a Saturday night, out of season, and both were managers at this time... Bruce at Birmingham, Robson at... Bradford?Bruce Rioja wrote:I'd doubt it, Fella. Reading his book he makes out that he has no love for the ale cans and playboys, not stopped him signing a few though.

for me - the Keane argument gets no further than him deliberately ending the career of another player....
so - no - not for me.

Re: NEVER!!!!!
Amongst a whole plethora of the usual suspects, Allardyce and Bruce were sat up til god-knows-what-time absolutley twatted the night before the play-off final in Cardiff. I saw it with my own eyes. I left the bar somewhere between 2 and 3. They were still there.William the White wrote:It was a good few years ago, but i once had an evening at the same table as Bryan Robson and Steve Bruce. I would say that shouldn't come into it but that would be hypocritical since I'm against Di Canio talk based on his nazi salute in Italy.thebish wrote:good first post in that it consists of reasoned and well-argued prose...leebwfc-adinfinitum wrote:Hello lads,

It's all jumping the gun anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if the next few days pass without the deed being done.
