Re: If Coyle gets the sack
No sign of Billy davis then? I dont dislike McCarthy but as others have said 442 and a fair number of long balls. Also juging by the way wolves defended last season has plenty of coyle s flaws. However a motivator who players want to play for so clearly better than what we have inspite of certain recent signings claiming the players are behind coyle. No dopubt some do want to play for him but you get the impression quite a few would rather have a manager who appears to know what he's doing.
Re: If Coyle gets the sack
personally of names mentioned today (davies, mick m and ole g s) i would only see point in getting billy davies the other two will take us knowhere
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
I personally dount like to advocate that people lose their jobs. Its not a good thing. However, I personally would be shocked if OC was still our manager on Wednesday this week. If yes, then PG and ED are on a suicide mission for the destruction of our club. One can only think that the discussions going on now are around the compensation package.
OC got us relegated through several rediculous decisions regarding tactics and player selection. He cited injury and bad decisions against us. He has retained an excellent Championship squad. We are now almost in the relegation zone of the Championship after 10 games, and he is citing bad luck and poor refereeing decisions, going as far as creating a CD to prove it. We have our best players on the bench because of poor form it seems. These guys suddenly have forgotten to play. We have been eliminated from the League Cup by a team in division lower than us. We continue to hear that we will start climbing the table after we play the next game. Instead we continue to move in the wrong direction.
Now is the time for change. We have a 2 week break. The players who are playing say that they love OC (Andrews, Knight, KD etc). I wonder why. Is it because after each loss he says to them "never mind, we had bad luck, I will pick you again for the next game. I believe in you. they robbed us again".
It is time our boys not like our manager so much. The managers must get them to play and if they dont, they will not hear the end of it. They will be blasted and told to start earning their pay or leave or go play in the researves. No more lovey dovey stuff.
Sorry for ranting, but enough is enough. I no longer look forward to Saturdays anymore. When we lose its like I am no longer bothered, almost as if I expect it. Get us a manager who knows football tactics and can teach the team to defend. OC says we fans dont know about football and he does.
That was the last straw for me from a man who has completely lost it.

Followed by Leicester at Home and Blackpool away, with tricky away fixtures at Brighton and Blackburn at the end of November.Armchair Wanderer wrote:Doesn't look like it's going to happen in the international break, the club might be thinking it's the ideal time to get our heads down and work on improving stuff.
The next 4 fixtures after the break: Bristol City, Wolves, 'Boro' and Cardiff.
The opening 10 fixtures were relatively easy compared to the next 10. But we've only got 11 points. From the opening 10 games, only Leeds look like they'll be in the promotion mix at the end of the season.
Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,
Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....

It is worrying that we have performed so poorly with a relatively easy start.

If Mad Mick pitches up there will be quite a few hovering in the same camp as when Megson was appointed and I shall be one of them!
It will be like the reincarnation of Megson, clueless in the Prem (if he ever got us up) I really think some are desperate to even consider him, he's had his chances and fecked them up, short term fix at best!

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
Just read the sun online and had a smile when it said Coyle to be sacked today until I read the rest that said we were going to put Sammy Lee in charge for the rest of the season then try and get Big Sam back and no that is no joke.
I am actually torn about wanting him to go because there is no doubt he loves the club but maybe he needs a bit of experiance to get him through this period of time. If the club were to change the coaching staff appoint an experianced number 2 who has been there and done it as a manager (Rioch maybe?) then I would be ok with him staying. If they don't then there is no doubt he either has to go or become number 2 which he won't accept.
He has no idea how to get out of this rut that has set in and maybe having someone who has been there and seen it all can give him advice because no way can he do this on his own with the staff he has. Also players have to stand up and be counted as well why on earth was Eagles allowed to take the penalty on Sat? I know he was designated to take it but was clearly rattled by their fans so Kevin Davies should have given it to someone else or taken it himself.
All in all something has to change either Coyle has to go or change the staff.

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
So summary from all the papers.
Independent - Coyle likely to stay for now, but needs to get results in next few games.
Daily Star - Coyle has one game to save his job.
Daily Mail - Talks did not resolve issues, Coyle likely to go.
Telegraph - McCarthy and Keane waiting in the wings, Coyle may get more time, or he may not.
The Sun - Coyle to be sacked and an interim manager (maybe Sammy Lee) put in charge and Allardyce to take over in the summer.
So I think on balance we're stuck with him for longer.
What I heard on Sunday, before owt about "talks" was mentioned, and it does seem to fit with the mixed stories coming out, was that Gartside and Davies agree Coyle is a busted flush. However, Eddie Davies has told Gartside that he's not paying to clean up another mess. So he won't pay compo as he feels that its a never ending cycle. He also feels if he pays out the silly amount of compo to get rid of Coyle and his staff, that there is nothing left in the pot to get a decent manager with and hence the cycle repeats. So they are hoping that Coyle and his cronies will go of their own accord or for at least a vastly reduced settlement.
The person this came from does know people around the club, and has been close to the truth previously, but probably is more wrong than right.
Absolutely zero idea if its true, but it would fit the slightly strange situation we find ourselves in, and the mixed reports in the media.
Alternatively and probably more plausibly, everyone is guessing to fill column inches, there was no meeting, and Coyle is here forever to torment us........

Re: If Coyle gets the sack
If it became a 2 horse race between Roy Keane and McCarthy I would be tempted to go for Keane - he's had a bumby track recored but he takes no nonsense, reads the game well when you listen to his punditry, he had some success in this division (Sunderland) and I don't think his bumpy record with Ipswich should be anything to judge him by - I think he will be a top manager given time, he's had some ups and downs at the start of his career but I have the feeling he will be up their with the O'Neils, Redknap's and Co. 10 years from now...IggyTheDawgster wrote:"Talks". http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... rtain.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He will have Alex Fergerson-sized ambitions so if he happened to find the right formular for "effective management" who knows where he would take the Whites? Somebody like Keane would do us more good than bad I feel - McCarthy might not have enough in his tank to secure prem status if he got us up - Keane is made of sterner stuff than McCarthy
Can you imagine what he would have said to Eagles after that penalty miss against Millwall? He wouldn't have got the OC treatment: "unlucky son, better luck next time" putting his arms round him. I don't think so. Keane demands respect from the players and he wouldn't shy away from the task here at Bolton - I also get the feeling he would know how to handle Gartside and if he got us up would be looking at better signings than N'Gog and Snotdell
So for me it's either Roy Keane or Curbs, forget McCarthy
(but I still can't stop thinking about Mick Mellons, the guy stinks of potential)

If the Allardyce story has any ground GET HIM BACK NOW, drop the rest of the candidates
