it is an interesting question - behind the label "fascist" - what is it in particular about Di Canio's beliefs/practices/the way he lives his life - that makes him an automatic no-no to manage the club?Verbal wrote:I just don't want a fascist in charge of the playing side of the club, tbh.
I mean - BEHIND a simple label, "fascist" - in his case - what does that actually mean in practice??

Beyond the swastika, and all that shenanigans, is the fact that he could fall out with any player at any time.thebish wrote:it is an interesting question - behind the label "fascist" - what is it in particular about Di Canio's beliefs/practices/the way he lives his life - that makes him an automatic no-no to manage the club?Verbal wrote:I just don't want a fascist in charge of the playing side of the club, tbh.

And usually do it publically, leaving no way back.
Blokes a nutter.
Why anyone would want us to consider him is frankly beyond me, and thats nowt to do with his beliefs.............
Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
all of which is interesting - but the question was directed at those who say they would not have him specifically because of the label "fascist". that is NOT the same as saying "I wouldn't have him because he is a nutter or bad at man-management."BWFC_Insane wrote:Beyond the swastika, and all that shenanigans, is the fact that he could fall out with any player at any time.thebish wrote:it is an interesting question - behind the label "fascist" - what is it in particular about Di Canio's beliefs/practices/the way he lives his life - that makes him an automatic no-no to manage the club?Verbal wrote:I just don't want a fascist in charge of the playing side of the club, tbh.

Even disregarding his dodgy politics and erratic behaviour(genius or nutter it's a fine line) the question has to be how does dicanio react when the chips are down. It's been up and up so far at swindon but its a short period. Would you trust dicanio to react well under pressure after a run of defeats? It's a pretty big unknown at present.BWFC_Insane wrote:Beyond the swastika, and all that shenanigans, is the fact that he could fall out with any player at any time.thebish wrote:it is an interesting question - behind the label "fascist" - what is it in particular about Di Canio's beliefs/practices/the way he lives his life - that makes him an automatic no-no to manage the club?Verbal wrote:I just don't want a fascist in charge of the playing side of the club, tbh.

I'm slightly concerned that Alex McCleish is now third favourite with several bookies.
I think he might be my "anyone but......" candidate.....

He doesn't have a swastika tattoo...IIRC it's a West Ham logo on his chest and one of Mussolini somewhere. Also a Lazio badge too somewhere, I thnik.BWFC_Insane wrote:Dunno, someone one here, can't recall who, claimed he had one tattoed on his arm.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:What swastika?BWFC_Insane wrote:Beyond the swastika, and all that shenanigans, is the fact that he could fall out with any player at any time.thebish wrote:it is an interesting question - behind the label "fascist" - what is it in particular about Di Canio's beliefs/practices/the way he lives his life - that makes him an automatic no-no to manage the club?Verbal wrote:I just don't want a fascist in charge of the playing side of the club, tbh.

Not a swastika - a huge tattoo of the Roman fasces... He's probably a classics scholar...BWFC_Insane wrote:Dunno, someone one here, can't recall who, claimed he had one tattoed on his arm.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:What swastika?BWFC_Insane wrote:Beyond the swastika, and all that shenanigans, is the fact that he could fall out with any player at any time.thebish wrote:it is an interesting question - behind the label "fascist" - what is it in particular about Di Canio's beliefs/practices/the way he lives his life - that makes him an automatic no-no to manage the club?Verbal wrote:I just don't want a fascist in charge of the playing side of the club, tbh.

He's got MXV or some such tattooed. It's some Latin thing for Mussolini, a bit like 13 is for cannabis on Hells Angels.BWFC_Insane wrote:Dunno, someone one here, can't recall who, claimed he had one tattoed on his arm.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:What swastika?BWFC_Insane wrote:Beyond the swastika, and all that shenanigans, is the fact that he could fall out with any player at any time.thebish wrote:it is an interesting question - behind the label "fascist" - what is it in particular about Di Canio's beliefs/practices/the way he lives his life - that makes him an automatic no-no to manage the club?Verbal wrote:I just don't want a fascist in charge of the playing side of the club, tbh.

I know, Crazy isn't it that one man we have just sacked gets by with his beliefs not attacked, Yet a prospective new manager is thrown in the gutter automatically because of his. What is the world coming to.Sponge wrote:IggyTheDawgster wrote:But you were okay with someone who openly went to church and prayed to an unknown, Invisible entity?Verbal wrote:I just don't want a fascist in charge of the playing side of the club, tbh.

no - but then that is not the question I am asking.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:Would you trust dicanio to react well under pressure after a run of defeats? It's a pretty big unknown at present.
I am asking what people actually mean about Di Canio - his beliefs/practice - when they say that it is the label "fascist" (not his managerial skills or temperament) that debars him from managing our club. I ask because I am genuinely interested to know what people think they mean by this...
some have quickly assumed it means he is racist, for instance - and I am not sure they are right...
