I don't think we need two defensive midfields. So would like to see Mavies there but with license to try and run a game and go looking for the ball.

SK for the sort term and N'gog long term. I would be tempted to put Eagles on the left and play N'gog behind Davies as i think he could be better running towards goal rather than trying to hold up and link play.

Against easier teams maybe but I still think the first priority for a new manager wil be to stop conceding and given the quality of our back 4 you certainly need 4 competive players in midfield. I'd still like to see alonso play left mid and give warnock the freedom to overlap knowing there's cover. I also think alonso may be likely to chip in with a few goals. Give eagles some freedom to roam behind a front man who can hold the ball up and we'd win plenty freekicks in danger zones.
Unless we suddenly find players who can attack crosses there seems little value in using wingers who cant defend. It also means our "flair" players can get on and attack tiring defenses when they are fresh so we can gain momentum toward the end of a game in which hopefully we are already in a decent position.

There only question-mark for me is who is up front. SKD has been scoring this season but not convinced in his legs to play the lone striker position. As a result Ngog gets the nod.

OK. I'm the boss. I'm looking forward to Christmas and the January sales. First on my list would be get rid of N'gog, and buy someone who can both hold up the ball and score, hold up the ball, pass and score, play football.
A loss is bound to be made, I mean who would pay £4 mill for him, but bargain scorers are available out there (somewhere).

My worries is getting the goals also. I have never really been at a game this year (a part from Leeds in the first 30min) when i thought we are going to score now. I think i'm right in saying that we have scored two goals from open play this year and a lot of ours 'moves' end up with a cross that goes to waste. I would just worry about playing to defensively that we don't have enough attacking options especially if we persist with SK up front as he isn't the best at running in behind the defense and if teams just sit in front of there goal like Palace its going to get frustrating.

I suppose it all about finding that balance which we should be able to do with our squad.

Just as a extra note would love to see Riley get a shot at Right Back and maybe move Ricketts into the center since Ream and Mills aren't at there best at the minute.

Agree about ricketts in the centre,Riley/mears not so sure tho it would be good to see a home grown player get a chance for once.
The point you make about goals from open play is exactly why I would suggest a more defensive midfield being solid and working on set pieces at least against stronger teams. We have already lost a number of games this season by not being competitive enough in midfield and leaving the defence exposed. Our lack of goalscorers and dodgy defence also means in an open game we will lose more often than not.Unless sordell or afobe given a run suddenly turn out to be natural goalscorers I cant see the point in weakening the midfield or playing an open game

Ok I am the boss and am giving something back to the fans.

For the first game, every ticket paying adult gets a free pie and 5 pints, kids get a packet of crisp. Ticket prices are are slashed by 50%.

The team, feck that Jimmy and Little Sam can pick it, I will see you in the bar...

New thread so we can hound the new appointment when he plays 442.

Pretty much this shape but I would still persist with Mavies in the role behind the main striker and maybe give Sordell a run out. Mavies still looks fairly dangerous when he has the ball in the final third, he just doesn't get enough of it there. Something like this:

-----------------Bogdan--------------
Ricketts-------Mills----Knight---Warnock
-------Spearing-----Andrews-----------
Eagles----------Mavies---------Petrov
-----------------Sordell---------

And if Mavies/Sordell aren't up to it, change them around with NGog and Lee and shift Eagles in the centre. Has flexibility too. We can bring Davo on or change formation to a narrow front three or heaven forbid a 4-4-2 when we need to stretch the game.

What about this to win promotion. 2teams when all fit
TEAM 1
BOGDAN
RICKETTS WHEATER KNIGHT WARNOCK

HOLDEN M.DAVIES SPEARING

CHUNG LEE K.DAVIES EAGLES
TEAM 2
LONERGAN
MEARS MILLS REAM ALONSO
VELA ANDREWS
WYLDE NGOG SORDELL PETROV

Obviously with the right manager and proper coaches including a psychology coach any of these teams
and combination could win promotion. Monday :( Today :D
