Deffo red letters on blue - that's why we'd no idea who he was. Think you're right on the Preston game being the 2nd.Leyther_Matt wrote:Red numbers, white letters wasn't it? Was the second home game I think as we played Burnley on the opening day (sounds familiar) and drew 1-1 (sounds unfamiliar).Bruce Rioja wrote:^ Indeed. First game of the season, or certainly his first game at least. Nobody had a clue who he was. Red name letters on a blue shoulder panel were soooo helpful

I believe that was during Todd's 3-5-2-with-two-attacking-midfielders phase.Leyther_Matt wrote:Didn't he tear us a new arsehole playing for Bradford? Seem to recall it being a Sunday afternoon TV game?
Ah, the memories.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

So I went on Saturday (Hendon won 2-1 btw. Really good day out to be honest, definitely heading to my local NL club sooner rather than later).
But yes, Isaiah. Came on as a sub at around the hour mark. Boy's done him some eating

Coincidentally, on Saturday I was talking to one of the guys at the running club who went to school with IR and still goes for a drink with him occasionally. Said he's a really nice guy.
Re: Where are they now? Isaiah Rankin
I didn't speak to him but from the people in the crowd they said he's a decent fella. In fact the whole atmosphere at the game was really good. One of the amazing things was that we spent the entire game giving stick to the opposition keeper - who when the ball was in the other half would engage in some verbals back - but when full time came and even though Hendon beat them, he turned around thanked us for coming and trotted off. Really really good day. And so cheap as well compared to yer superleague. Few scoops in the clubhouse beforehand, pie, chips and bovril during the game and a pint after and you've got change from a £20 note. Lovely stuff.
Going to get down to Bethnal Green United (Essex Senior League - now THAT is non-league) in a couple of weeks as well I reckon. Just a really fun atmosphere.

Reminds me - I must renew my acquaintance with the Magpies of Chorley too. Now that's a Saturday afternoon very well spent indeed.

You'll be just round the corner from me then...only been to one game there since we moved to Chorley, I must make more of an effort!Bruce Rioja wrote:Reminds me - I must renew my acquaintance with the Magpies of Chorley too. Now that's a Saturday afternoon very well spent indeed.

You should. Honest. I got into the habit of going a couple of years ago but then for no real reason stopped when I moved house. Am deffo going to start going again. I wrote an article for this very site on my experience but I don't know how to dig it out. Do you live off of Pilling Lane?89bwfc89 wrote:You'll be just round the corner from me then...only been to one game there since we moved to Chorley, I must make more of an effort!Bruce Rioja wrote:Reminds me - I must renew my acquaintance with the Magpies of Chorley too. Didn't end up going anywhere on Saturday even though I go to non-league relatively often and used to be involved in semi-pro football up until a couple of years ago. Going to a North West Counties Division One grudge match tonight though, Atherton Collieries vs West Didsbury & Chorlton. Fiver in, £2.50 for a pie and a Bovril and £2 for a pint. Sorted.

Yeah, pretty much just off Pilling Lane.

I used to go out with a girl that lived on Pilling Lane - can't even remember her name now. That's not good, is it?! She was a right snooty cow though!

Not a bad effort from a three year old that, eh?Verbal wrote:Member Since:Bruce Rioja wrote:Here you go89bwfc89 wrote: If I remember correctly, one of the lads I went to school with plays for them too, so really should go! Be interesting to read your article!
