I saw scouts from PNE, Barnsley, Everton, Liverpool and Bolton all running the rule over prospective recruits.
And those lads have to prove they have the guts to match the skills, by building back up again. Good luck to them.

It'd be nice for them, given their pre-caretaker jobs, to big up the Academy. I suppose Vela might well have been involved had he not played on with knee-knack on the night Coyle lost it at Crawley.

I would have been there to watch the lads play but I went to watch to watch my son run the line at Man City's U16s match vrs Tranmere tonight instead. The quality City had on show was something to behold but the reality that footballers of this age have to face was all too apparent. I was told by one of the parents that out of the 17 players in the squad only 1 or 2 possibly 3 will be chosen to enter into the Scholarship programme which takes the players through to 18 and possibly the offer of a pro contract. Such is the clinical nature of the youth programmes at all professional football clubs that the decision on the future of these players will be made in November and City had invited clubs down to scout the players that won't be staying on. I saw scouts from PNE, Barnsley, Everton, Liverpool and Bolton all running the rule over prospective recruits. It appears that City have switched their recruitment focus and have been scouring the African continent plus they're picking up the cast-offs from the Barca and Real Acadamies. This is now starting to undermine what has been held up as being the best Academy set-up in the Manchester/NW in developing young talent but I guess if you're building a dynasty then recruiting the world's finest talent is what you have to do.
One of them City lads plays in my 5-a-side league! After he'd got his team a few goals up he started trying to take the piss, so some of my team-mates enjoyed reminding him that he probably won't make it

I'm sure ST's lad will face similar accusations as his officiating career progresses ;)

None as worse as being accused of playing for tranmere. Footie fans arent that cruel..Even UEFA wouldnt turn a blind eye to that kind of abuse.

0-0 at half time. Lewis Fielding in goal given Lynch's promotion to the first team squad. O'Halloran, Odelusi and Gregg Wylde in our team; Michael Keane, Macheda and Nick Powell for the other lot. They dominated first 25 minutes but we've competed well since then.

Finished 2-1 to the other lot, despite Whites leading 1-0 until the 79th minute.

Gregg Wylde pretty anonymous with Jiminho in the stands.

Not a bad performance though considering the other lot's reserves are probably worth as much as our first team.

Lost tonight 1-0 v West Ham, Knight and Alonso played full games, Rob Leighton had his first game in goal for I think 12 months after 2 shoulder injuries. The trio of Phillips, Lee and Darby were there as was Tony Kelly, David Lee. Big Sam and Neil McDonald were with the WHU contingent.
U21s unlucky to lose as we had 4 efforts cleared off the line and hit the post with an Alonso free kick.
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

Good to hear Lainton is back in action. Knight playing last night would obviously suggest Ream and Mills playing again tonight.
