Great match. Great result.

First 20 was very odd. Their first was a corner that wasn't dealt with - great finish from their lad, like. Second was a penalty, not sure whether it was legitimate or not. But those were their only two chances, and it's strange in football to have 100% on things like that. Despite this, I didn't think we had played badly. People on here have bitched about the team that was put out, or the formation, but I was willing to give it a chance, and we grew into the game as it went on; Eagles' strike was a cracker to get us back into it.

2-0 down under Coyle? Dead and gone, might as well go home. Under the new management? Game on.

Coming out after the break, we had switched to a 4-2-3-1; inspired, as it turned out. We were all over them. Great football, we didn't look weak in the midfield as we normally would have done (and in fact, we didn't even look weak in the midfield first half), and Bristol just couldn't handle us. Within about 5 minutes, you just knew we were gonna win it.

The difference between Coyle's Bolton and Jiminho's Bolton is startling. We looked fit, organised and energetic. Brand new dawn, started in exactly the right way.

See, you say that, but there was actually no sign that it was a disastrous decision. Bristol never threatened through the middle at all.

Eagles for me - a class above at this level

Fcuk me, Coyle was a stubborn/clueless (delete as appropriate) bastard

He had everything in place to be successful

I truly believe he's got mental issues

I can't pick between Spearing, Kev and Eagles. Only thing against Kev is that whilst he played very well their centre-halves were shite

It's not so much that he gets slagged off for being soft, it's that the same people dishing out that abuse love Petrov. I'd pick them both like, but Petrov is worse for marding out, and does less!

It was only a brief cameo, but Chungy looked more involved. Think it helps when he had so much of the ball. Great link up between him, Kev, Eagles and Petrov for the third. Second-half we got the 3 behind the front 1 and they were fantastic. Pace, movement, chances. Again, it does have to be stressed quite how shit City were. Makes the season up to now all the more disappointing when you consider who we have played and who we still have to play. There are going to be some tough games in the next few weeks. Really impressed with the tactical flexibility today though. Also, it was a weird feeling seeing Chungy and then Pratters warming up expecting to see any other number but the right one come up, and they made sense!

BTW - why was the Police helicopter buzzing around the place afterwards? :conf:
Bristol fans causing trouble.. One of my mates was in the Harvester and luckily moved seats to eat minutes before the windows went through.
Seriously? I don't know how many times I've watched us play them and they've never been a spot of bother :conf:

Glad your mate and his group didn't get caught up in it, Chris.

Interesting about Eagles. Sure he's kind of soft, but the lads scored more goals than any other two players on our squad... Surely that gives him a little leeway?

Oh he's soft alright, but no-one ever bought Chris Eagles to win 50/50 balls. That there are people sitting around me that not only don't understand this but actually forget everything that the lad is bringing to the game so as to get on his case is fecking embarrassing.

Yup Bristol fans are tosser's (minority) had loads of run ins with them over the years with games against Argyle

Argyles got there fair share of knobs as well (me if ya like) there always loads of fighting when it's Argyle against Leeds, Bristol, and especially Exeter

There's loads of youtube videos of last seasons game against Exeter loads of fighting there was fires a copper got knocked out it was terrible especially because I had my daughter with me it reminded me of the games in the 80s (iv seen videos)

Don't know if it was mentioned earlier but Mears has signed for the wrong club in the wrong stadium if he thinks it's time for gloves already this Winter. About 20 degrees fewer to come, Ty.

Really think Warnock was an un-sung hero today, or maybe I'm just not used to seeing such a solid LB?

He had a good game GM, and certainly looks solid. Mills was good too. Plenty others solid, no individual shite. Still think those three were ahead of the rest though.

Did clock that too Athers. He ain't seen nothin' yet. Also, WTF is gloves with a short sleeve shirt about?!

This may sound like the great gift of hindsight, but even at 2 down, I felt we'd get something out of the game.

The centre back pairing made me nervous at times. Looked like a cast iron penalty to me after Ream rather stupidly stuck his leg out, but having said that, if it was, it was one of the few decisions the ref got right all afternoon.

A great team performance with for me, one exception. I'm now convinced that Afobe has been signed with a guarantee that he plays so many minutes or matches. He is without doubt, the worst forward Ive seen in a white shirt for some considerable time - even Mario Jardell scored and Marshall had more mobility. For the life of me I cant understand what he brings to the game? He has an appalling first touch, make runs into areas that are completley nonsensical and contributes the sum total of f*** all.

Rant aside, a great result and hopefully, something to build on. Its going to be interesting to see what JP thinks is our best starting 11.

Bumped into Bijou Bob on the way out and we were saying the same. The only other full back that I can remember who relished having players running at him was the young Dean Holden.

Adobe needs sending back to Arsenal for me.. Get Eaves back and have our own front men in Sordell, Davies, N'gog and Eaves.

Also get Warnock signed up in January. Villa don't seem to want him so he should be cheap enough.

Notice Tom Eaves scored two more for Bristol Rovers today, albeit against 10 men Torquay.

On Warnock. Do we know how much he is on? I thought it was out of our price range.
