I, for one, would be a lot happier (if we employ another young inexperienced ex-striker-manager) if we were to bring in a first team defensive coach to work with him.

the Palace goals-conceded column does not fill me with confidence that DF is the obvious man to sort out our obvious problem!
This this and this
they have probably only looked solid in one game this season...where they nullified a team relegated from the prem and nicked a 1-0...:hang:

I'm not adverse to Dooogeee by any means but I hope he accepts the help of the coaches we haven't culled.

My memories of coyle as a player - nice bloke; reasonable striker but never as good as super john...walker

my memories of douglas are of a right nasty bastard who would do anything to get goals.

we need a manager with more of a nasty streak i reckon...

Gotta say, I'm sorta relieved. Nowhere near certain that Doogie is the man we need going forwards. Keep Jiminho in charge, lets wait and see what comes up.

Indeed

They think he is staying because permission has not been granted. Most clubs say that including Burnley most recently with Eddie Howe.

Relieved about what? Permission denied means they are playing hardball.

And suggests that he does in fact want to speak to us.

Can only imagine this is about money now.....

Richard Cawley @RichCawleySLP
My understanding is that #bwfc are likely to be cleared to speak to Freedman if they come up with adequate compensation. #cpfc

Eh?
They want us to come up with adequate compensation before we're even allowed to speak to him?

All we need to do is match what's left on his contract financially and that's the compo sorted, isn't it?

Interesting line from one of the Palace fans who claims that McCarthy's wage demands were too high (I've heard that elsewhere) and that the compensation package for De Canio was out of our reach.

I'm completely ambivalent about Freedman. It's one of those that could work a treat or be a complete disaster. At this moment in time, personally I think we need an experienced head, preferably one containing a defensive brain. That descrition in no way fits Freedman.

Palace Fan here

Im very suprised to be honest that Bolton seem to want Dougie Freedman so badly, we all love dougie at Palace as he's a living legend but his managerial record isnt fantastic by any means, weve had 2 medicore seasons with dougie and were favourites for relegation this season.

Over the last month weve had a terrific run of form mainly down to zaha who has been absolutely world class but before this last run we were shocking and the fans here were split on whether to keep him or not.

Our form before our recent run was
Played 25
Won 3
Drew 11
Lost 11

Add to that the way he sets out the team is usually defensive 451 and not that great to watch

Id rather him stay as we are playing well but I would not be absolutely devasted if he went and if I was a Bolton Fan id probably not be too excited either

Which I why I thin he'd be crazy to go to Bolton, a few results going to wrong way and the bolton fans would be calling for his head considering they dont want him, at Palace here because of his background the fans are much more patient with him.

Just seems like a bad move alround to be honest
