Which are the friendliest pubs for Trotters fans?
As a long-distance fan, I've never been to the Reebok but I'm hoping to get along to a match next month.
Can anyone recommend some pubs that welcome Bolton fans on match day - preferably within five or miles from the ground?
I want to savour the full matchday atmosphere - both before and afterwards.
Any suggestions would be welcome

That's the Harvester. Barnstormers is further up the road.throwawayboltonian wrote:Really? I went to a few games last year and each time it was home only. Or am I getting my pubs mixed up?ebby wrote:the beehive used to always be packed with away fans, changed their policy?
EDIT: Yes I'm getting my pubs mixed up. Scratch beehive, that's the away one near the roundabout.
EDIT 2: Is barnstormers the one near Scotts that I'm thinking of?

If Fanzone is on, that's actually pretty good. Gets quite full, quite early, but never any bother getting a pint. They do a BWFC v Whoever we're playing quiz too which is entertaining enough. They also show the early kick off on the big screen.

In that case, the Balmoral in Town is pretty welcoming.

If, like me, you have trouble with bells, I'd steer clear of the Balmoral.

All 4 corners of the ground are filled with bells, so I'd worry.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I don't want to be with away fans.
It's got to be home fans - any other ideas?
So fa, I've only got Barnstormer and possibly Beehive. Aren't there any family-run pubs with Bolton-supporting landlords?

i always think a bar in that circular building at the top of the steps would do ok. just a rought arse match day facility - central bar, drinks shelf round the perimeter and maybe a few poseur tables and stools knocking about. coupla big screens with SSN on, bosh.
actually, it wouldtnt do ok at all.

it'd only get anybody in on match days tho, nobody would ever make it work. it'd have to be a club initiative, which would therefore make it a load of shit.

I'd imagine it would make enough on Match days to make through the week

They couldn't make it into a pub cos it hasn't got any toilets.

If you're looking for actual pubs with an atmosphere, then go to Bolton town centre (the ground is on a retail park near Wiggin) and get the train up to Horwich Parkway.Troton wrote:Thanks for the suggestions.

Saying that, Horwich town centre isn't too bad, and is walking distance to the Reebok, unless you're a moaning fatty anyway.
Troll and proud of it.
