I would imagine that includes a hefty bonus for promotion.Eagle in peace wrote:His salary was meant to be £125k. It appears you have more than trebled it to £500k p.a.

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
The figures I have seen being banded about were £500k p.a. for 3 years, with a £1m promotion bonus. Admittedly, I cannot vouch for the accuracy.

Again, this is somewhat intriguing given his record.
Or maybe it's in line with what other managers are paid in the Championship?
What's intriguing is how much are you going to pay your new manager now he knows what Freedman is on. Actually, no it's not, I don't care.

Times quote salary of ~£500,000 p.a. + a large bonus if Premiership attained end of this seasonBL3 wrote:I would imagine that includes a hefty bonus for promotion.Eagle in peace wrote:His salary was meant to be £125k. It appears you have more than trebled it to £500k p.a.

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
the Times also quoted him being on £250,000 p.a at Palace, although everybody else here is contradicting that.

Good question, have not seen any real info on that. Cannot imagine it would be much.
@GaryEnfield - I would guess more than DF was on as I believe we are now looking for someone who actually managed teams, rather than a novice.

Didn't we treble Megson's wages to lure him up the divisions?

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Level headed Palace fan here (another one) lol. Congrats, your Gartside clearly got his man all be it at a very unfortunate time and approach right before the Scumwall game. This won't be forgotten I am afraid.
I've no problem with you guys what so ever, as fans, as it us that always suffers at various points and it is ONLY US FANS that are the loyal ones week in week out.
I look forward to, oh do I look forward to, Sat 19th Jan
Come what may, it will be a very noisy affair.
Quick heads up I guess and I presume some of my fellow Palace fans might have already eluded to this already, so apologies if so. Well, he ain't that good! Our current squad however, is good! They have made him look better than he really is these last few months. I'm not gonna waffle on about this though and sound like a complete negative bell-end. I will however, be popping in now and again to converse and see how things transpire for you guys. Particularly come the New Year when most of us will get a better idea of where we are and how things may pan out going forward.
I'm not a gambling man, but I make the sportsman bet with you that we'll make the play-offs over you guys and just to remember ONE little thing. Most, if not ALL Palace players or Managers that have left us "under a cloud" thinking the grass is greener etc have gone on to failure at epic proportions. Just saying
Good luck and thanks for allowing me to post here.

Who assembled that squad?CPFC4EVA wrote:Well, he ain't that good! Our current squad however, is good!
Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Many were already here or came through our excellent youth system (Zaha, Williams etc). George Burley bought a few of them in also (that weren't already here) and yes ok, a couple that, under the guidance of Lennie Lawrence, happened to sign whilst df was manager.BL3 wrote:Who assembled that squad?CPFC4EVA wrote:Well, he ain't that good! Anyhow, seeing as he was a bit rubbish, I expect you will stay in the top 6 all season, cos you're bound to get someone better.
Enjoy!

Am I right in thinking you had a shite start to the season? Then Freedman was eventually allowed to bring in some players and your season turned around and you went on your good run?
Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
So in other words he got more out of them than anyone else had managed to. Either that or you've fluked your way to fourth place.CPFC4EVA wrote:Many were already here or came through our excellent youth system (Zaha, Williams etc). Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Seems like Freedman is saying the Palace owners did not do enough to keep him.
Oh dear.
And the Palace owners account of the events are beginning to unravel. Saying that they agreed compensation on Sunday but then seemingly denying permission to us on the Monday.
I smell a pair of owners telling a few porkies to the Palace fans.
Feel sorry for their fans in all this really.

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Yes, lost the first 3. We then secured some players by offloading Ambrose, Scannel etc. There is sufficient rumour, and I mean rumour, that DF was told to change the manner in which the team played following the Bristol C loss. The owners say they have not interfered though... All we know is we have dramatically changed the manner in which we play, and that is odd, given what went before.ChrisC wrote:
