it's shorthand for the new player/new manager moment when they are photographed on the Pitch wearing a wanderers Shirt and Grinning

God, no.

Anyway, Freedman is an unknown quantity and, while few are dancing in the aisles, his reception is several levels better than Megson's was.

I'm very surprised Lennie Lawrence came with him. Quite capable of replacing DF down there & v experienced and of an age when a move up here wouldn't have been a gimme.

Truly hoping this hasn't damaged Jimmy Phillips' mindset at all.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

where is it confirmed Lennie Lawrence has come with him? im pretty pleased about this if true. reckon his knowledge and experience will be a big help to Dougie, paired up with the coaching nous of LSL! shaping up pretty well.

I don't know much about Dougie Freedman. I suppose it's a forum so I could just make it up but I won't.

Good luck to him and whatever team he builds around him.

Its not. He will be managing Palace this weekend. However, there are plenty of reports that long term, Lennie Lawrence and Curtis Fleming will join Dougie here.

Indeed even one of the Palace owners said this week, he suspected that was what Freedman would want, and that may be what happens eventually.

Morning all,

If you are interested....

The local rag has printed it's scoop (it wasn't) which although I have not read personally, appears to not be anything but revalatory (sp?). The essence is paraphrased from another Palace fan below;

"All we have really found out from the interview is that Freedman wanted extra loan signings in and better contracts for some players - no real details as to if they were turned down flat and he says he only knew of Bolton's interest after the Millwall match (despite most of us hearing about it a couple of days before!) - from what he says, Steve Parish could have said a flat no to him going to Bolton, but left the decision to Freedman."

DF also mentions Palace contract offer did not match what Gartside offerered (NB - our owner has gone on record to say the figures on DF's original contract was not what has been widely reported). No surprise there as we have been in administration twice and our new owners have made it clear we are to be run on a going concern basis (as far as a football club can be!).

Personally, I see this as a combination of personal gain (unsurprising I know), clouded by possible disagreement of club policy. This will remain a further contradiction with Palace fans though as DF intimately knew what the horrendous financial mismanagment we got into twice before did to us and he spoke about the long term plans in a rationale way that took this into account. I could detail ad infinitum examples of how this episode contradicts in many, many ways, but suffice to say this is a complete volt face.

The above supposed reasons I can understand (if I try hard!), but to say he only knew about this approach on Saturday, either just before, or after an important derby, is bullsh*t. There is too much anecdotal evidence prior to the Saturday and too quick a resolution following the "approach" to rationally say he was not aware of the interest prior to this.

Anyways, have a good day.

You mean you aren't going to say he's better than Mourinho?

Or that you'd rather have Jimmy Saville managing us?

What sort of football forum poster are you?

So he doesn't have an agent.

And his interviews do remind me of Sam Allardyce.

Yes, this was the article I referred to. It appears our owners are so intimidatory, that DF fears for his familiy's lives!

And re an agent, yes, DF says he does not......
