Best 11 and system

Post by Ianmooreslovechild » Sat Oct 27, 2012 7:50 pm

So with defenders who cant defend, strikers who cant score and a midfield that cant compete what we you like to see dougie do with the exceptional promotion standard players he has inherited?
Do we have a best system/best 11 and do we switch systems according to opponents/venue .

Bogdan
Riley,
Ricketts,
Knight,
Warnock

Spearing,
Andrews

CYL,
Eagles,
Petrov,

N, Gog

Mavies and Eagles are battling for that spot in the middle of the 3.

Assuming everyone is fit, which shouldn't be long off...

-------------------Bogdan
Ricketts - Wheater - Ream - Warnock
------------Holden - Spearing
----Chungy ----- Eagles --------- Petrov

That's what I have although not sure whether KD should be starting ahead of NGog. NGog is good at the head of a 451 though but wont score ever.
Wheater and Holden may be some time yet.

Ignoring Holden, it looks a lot better with Wheater in it!

Seen him training around 2 weeks ago so hopefully he will be back around mid to late November.

-------------------Bogdan----------------
Ricketts------Knight------Mills---Warnock
------------------Spearing---------------
Lee--------------------------------Petrov
---------M.Davies---------Eagles---------
------------------SKDavies---------------

Would have to be something like this for me. Lee and Petrov are crucial. Eagles is a bit of a strange commodity, can't tell if he's good for the team game or bad. We're consistently losing possession due to long range shots and its something we need to improve on. I'm more than happy for Eagles to take shots but he's gotta get in better positions, which in my opinion requires pushing him just behind SKD.

It's a tough one. Maybe just focusing on defence for a few games may be the solution, after all we've been conceding goals for fun and Palace aren't well known for their defending either.

Not a chance I'm afraid, Chris.

Wheater himself reckons he won't be around the first team picture until late February.

Well lets say it's defensively a bit lightweight and not exactly balanced. You also have two rather slow centre backs but maybe the idea is to sit deep and catch teams on the break with our plethora of creative outlets

That's probably the best team we could put out, ON PAPER that is one of the best teams if not the best in the league, better than our premier league team last year.

Assuming everyone is fit....

Bogdan
Ricketts Knight Wheater Warnock
Holden Spearing Andrews
Eagles Petrov
NGog

For me. The old Sam Allardyce system. We need to compete in the centre of midfield and try to stop being dominated in there.

NGog is probably the only striker we have who can play the lone striking role as it stands, I appreciate he doesn't score many, and is shot shy, but its about team shape and providing balance.

Come february that may well work tho you'd be defending deep with Knight and Wheats as your centre backs.I like the idea of having more than one player in midfield who can compete for the ball. That one's a winner!

We should be defending deep. Why the feck Coyle signed carthorses for defenders but asked them to play a high line, is utterly beyond me.

Anyhow, I'd have Spearing sitting in front of the back four and not moving.

Totally agree,Defending deep invites pressure but also creates potentially more space for counter attacks. If you have slow defenders though you cant play a high line. it is nuts

You need to realise that we don't play on paper, and 'big' names mean f*ck all in this division.

Holden? What's the point in including him - he'll never play again.

Sorry never realised football wasn't played on paper ...... Must see what this grass football is all about, 'big' names ? Newcastle and West Spam had 'big names' they came back up and about Holden, yes he may never be as good again but I'm pretty sure he will play this non paper playing sport in training
